BKK have a lot of Japanese restaurants in shopping centres, should have no problem finding tom yam hot pot buffet. My previous thread we went to this restaurant in Chinatown, foods not bad. In fact Chinatown have many places to eat though I haven't got chances to try them yet. My colleague told me, when you pass by a restaurant, any restaurant, just check if there are a lot of people eating inside. If yes, just pop in and try the foods, you will never know unless you try.

The Taste restaurant the buffet only on Sunday lunch, other days don't have.

Let's make BKK our annual makan trip :D

While you are enjoying your foods, they have a Live Band to entertain you. Let the singer serenade with songs as you sip at that cuppa of coffee.

Teppanyaki - On the plate we have Black Cod Fish, Chicken, Beef and Golden Mushroom. There was also this fish fillet that was pan fried to a crispy exterior and yet still moist inside.

This Teppanyaki Black Cod Fish was a favorite among us. The beautiful snow-white fillets had a intensely rich buttery taste and a very velvety, delicate texture.

Black Cod (Sablefish)

In the deep blue depths of Alaska's pristine waters lies what some would consider the best tasting fish in the world- Sablefish. This incredibly flavorful fish is also referred to as Black Cod or "Butterfish". It is widely known as an excellent fish for gourmet entrees and well received when smoked. It's name, Sablefish, is thought to be derived from the fact that it has a very soft, delicate texture. It is considered a delicacy by most seafood connoisseurs for it's beautiful snow-white fillets, rich succulent flavor, and velvety texture. If prepared correctly...it will literally melt in your mouth!

Teppanyaki Beef - If this was in Singapore, you'll never see that piece of fats as they would have been trimmed off but here these fats are placed together with the meat so diners can choose which what they desired.

503-Zest.jpg

Here we have Teppanyaki Scallop, Prawn, Squid and Black Cod Fish.

504-Zest.jpg

Teppanyaki Scallop - These are big, fat and succulent not to mention fresh. The slightly charred surface and the sauce brought out the aromatic fresh from the sea flavour. :thumb2:

505-Zest.jpg

Roast Beef Rib Eye and Herb-Crusted Lamb Rack - The outer slices of the beef are well done but still tender enough to be saw apart by the knife. Those cuts toward the center are still pinkish though which fared much better.

The highlight of Taste would have to be this Herb-Crusted Lamb Rack. The herbs crust was baked to form a crunchy shell which sealed in all the juices of the lamb and thus cooking in its own juices. From the pictures below, you can see that the fats are more or less evenly distributed so the when you bite into one, the flavours and juices exploded in your mouth sending you into ecstasy.

Teppanyaki Black Cod Fish, Beef and Prawn - This Black Cod Fish kept appearing in the pictures, because it's that good.

Hawaiian Pizza was overloaded with ingredients and too little cheese taste which defeat the purpose of eating a pizza. Sometime more doesn't equal better.

Not my plate of Teppanyaki Beef as it's a bit too rare for me.

Simmered Pork Belly in Soy Sauce - Not exactly melt in your mouth texture but was good enough for me except it was a tad salty. This dish would go very well with rice.

Waitress from Taste Restaurant - The wait staffs are ever so attentive and smiles are always on their faces. Actually I have not met any rude Thai people to spoil my day.

My dining companion had this Claypot Soup which look good.

519-Zest.jpg

Time for desserts, my plate of Pralines, Caramel Mixed Nut Tart and White Chocolate Mousse Cake.

520-Zest.jpg

The Caramel Mixed Nut Tart was too sweet for me, less caramel would be good.

521-Zest.jpg

But Pralines are still my top choices.

Pralines - Between the dark chocolate and the green tea flavoured ones, I will pick the former as I don't really like green tea. But I am fine with Pokka Jasmine Green Tea.

523-Zest.jpg

Sad to say, I never got to try these New York Chocolate Cake and Pumpkin Pie. I was trying to find space in my tummy for another piece of the Herb-Crusted Lamb Rack but in the end had to gave up the idea. :D

524-Zest.jpg

Cheese Cake

525-Zest.jpg

Lime Cheese Cake - This I did eat and it was pretty good. The cheese flavour wasn't too strong (I like it that way) and the light sourness of the lime toned down the cheesiness if that was the correct word to use. :D

These Luk Chup are pretty to look at though I still don't like to eat them. The filling is basically mung beans paste and sugar.

Where we are seated, they do not have Mango so my dining companion asked the waitress to get him some of the fruit. It was sweet with a sour aftertaste.

529-Zest.jpg

Salt and Pepper - These grinders are smaller than the wooden type we used to see back home.

Are there any cheap and good buffets to recommend in Bangkok? Atas ones like $40 SGD per person can skip, maybe like $10-15, haha limited budget here,
thanks!

Raspberry & Strawberry and Passion Fruit & Mango Ice Cream - These two sherbets offered a tangy refreshment bursting with a real taste of fruits. Came with bits and pieces of fruits in them.

530-Zest.jpg

The Maple Walnut and Espresso Ice Cream are more creamery on the other hand. When I first tried maple walnut ice cream, I fell in love with it. The maple syrup with its characteristic earthy sweet taste and walnut bits make this a really nice treat. The gummy bear's backside is getting real cold and wet, I better eat the ice cream now. :s13:

Total Bill for the two of us came up to 2766.36 Baht after AMEX's 25% discount which was about S$55 each. Service was excellent, so was the range and quality of the foods. Would I come back again? Definitely a yes from me.

Does took me a lot of time to sort and edit them. Also some food items I do not know what they are so that took me some time to search online for it. Glad you like them.

After our sumptuous buffet lunch, we took a taxi to Platinum Mall to meet the other group of friends who were shopping there.

539-PlatinumMall.jpg

Right along the perimeter of the shopping centre were stalls selling foods and snacks.

Roast Pork - If not for the fact that I had just eaten, I would have bought some.

Sai Ua (Chiang Mai Sausage) is made with minced pork, herbs, spices and Thai Red Chilli Paste. Next trip, I must buy some to eat.
