comparing MSI B350M Bazooka and Asus Prime B350M-A, in terms of reliability and aftersales service, which is better?
actually planning to get from TP but then i noticed they don't have B350M Bazooka in their price list though..
See if you prefer more USB ports or more SATA ports?
The bazooka comes with more USB ports at the rear. While the Asus one comes with more SATA ports 6 vs 4. The rest are pretty much the same. Pricing wise the bazooka is cheaper by $2x.
Avertek or Corbell. I do not have problems with either so far. Kalang vs AMK. You decide.

actually.. i think i will only use 2 rear usb (mouse + kb) and 2 sata (hdd + ssd)..
but i guess the thing is msi has 3 fan headers while asus only has 2 though. argh, a part of me still wants to go with asus because of how my current asus mobo has lasted me all the way.. but at the same time msi is super enticing![]()

Ryzen 5 2400G or Ryzen 3 2200G is the better buy? Are the extra threads from SMT and 3 Vega CU worth the higher price tag in the name of "future-proofing"?
Usage is basic such as surfing, managing storage and phone, documents, emails, YouTube/4K videos (on 4k monitor) and perhaps light gaming like L4D2 and Dota only.

Well if you were to ask me between this 2 boards, I have to give it to msi instead. Hence that is why I got it for my mum upgrading as she needs more USB ports at the rear.
There is nothing wrong with either board. Asus or MSI is fine. But if you value value, then MSI would be a better choice for this budget segment.

did the msi mobo work out of the box for you? i read some feedbacks online that msi is slow to release bios update, and also some people also faced some issues with post delays (long startup or something).
Thanks for your feedback. Many have supported 2200G instead of 2400G even though I'm leaning towards the 2400G initially as there are extra threads and slightly better iGPU.L4D2! Lol I did tried that game on 2200G. Smashes the fps* rate lah. The 2200G can maintain over 110fps lol on 1080p medium and some high settings.
Tbh with you, I would recommend the 2200G instead. Cause the pricing and the overall adoption rate for a 2200G and b350 board is cheap. Want it to be cheaper? Pair it with a320 board. The pricing becomes $2xx range.
If you intend to game some other titles that it is slightly more demanding, then the 2400G will help by a bit.
The 2400G is more for content creations on a budget rather than "gaming" in general. The help of iGPU inside could help.

So far the updates on BIOS updates are pretty consistent if you were to ask me.
Long post startup? I believe that was the past when first Ryzen launched. The BIOS have matured over time.
Will probably show you the POST time taken tomorrow. So far only TR4 X99 X299 has a longer POST time for HEDT segment.

i tried to check the ram compatiability on B350M Bazooka, and seems like Klevv Bolt DDR4 1x8GB 3000MHz ain't there though.. same for Corsair Vengeance LPX 3000MHz 2x4GB.
by the way, on the topic of ram, since i won't be overclocking at all, i believe it will run @ default 2400MHz right, so actually I don't have to get a 2666/3000MHz ram at all right?

This rig serve the same purpose as yours, for the parents.
Guess I'll go with the 2200G then. From the reviews' charts, the additional 3 Vega CU isn't really groundbreaking even though there are minor differences once both Ryzen are overclocked. Don't really like sacrificing SMT but guess it won't matters to lighter workloads.

On default, just like singupigu mentioned, ddr4 runs at 2133mhz.
You will need to change the ram profile in bios. For MSI is profile 1 or 2.
It will set to your ram advertised speed. But if it doesn't boot, go back to bios change the frequency and add your own timing.
But if you are setting non overclock, then just leave it stock loh. It's really up to you, if you intending to push it for casual games, try overclocking it. Or get a pair of 2400mhz and overclock it.
You can say it's that easy to OC the memory when you buy higher end kit that have advertised at higher speed like 3000mhz.Thanks Roy and singu for the explanations! So if I enable AMP (AMD equivalent of Intel xmp), its kinda considered as oc, and will run @ advertised speed of 2933mhz, right?

Dota 2 and CS GO are mainstream games that is meant to cater for a large variety of specs from low end to high end. 6gb (or 4gb after windows hog 2gb) is more than enough for those games. Their minimum requirements for system RAM are 4gb (Dota) and 2gb(csgo). Even a laptop with only 4gb system RAM could run this 2 games, just may not at the desired max graphics with 1080p 60fps of coz.If going by 2x4gb, read that 2gb will alr be taken for the igpu so sort of remaining 6gb ram enough for dota 2/cs? �

The memory timing are stated in your memory kit. You will have a manual or description on the box. Those timing numbers are very close to your mobo timing.
Let say your mobo detect the profile as 16-18-18-18-38 but your ram kit written 15-17-17-17-35. Then you overwrite the value from your bios. Typically, larger number (loose) are easier to run but in return they are slightly slower. Try to use smaller number if possible. Those timing are latency, so smaller is faster but if your ram cannot cater, it won't boot or there will be errors in memtest86 stress test.

i guess that the performance gain from overclocking just ram wouldn't be significant at all right.. but then again, since im using APU, i read on reddit, quote :"essentially makes your VRAM faster, since your normal RAM becomes VRAM when using an integrated GPU."
