Going to stay in Puri Hotel in XMD during my 4d3n. Hope the reviews are true..

Actually you can see the truth review are very detail, fake one is very simple and look like copy and paste.

I don't know about Dreamtown, but you can check tripadvisor for photo and reviews. Location is important and if minsu will drive you to attraction point or not.

If u worry, just look at those people with more than 10 or 20 reviews.
is common to see hotel being reviewed by traveler with less than 10 reviews.

go agoda, booking.com, expedia, hotels.com ...
read reviews by those who have stayed there.
u wont go wrong with that ...

It's too easy to find true or fake reviews.
If the hotel have a list of bad reviews, the latest is good or excellent review, this review have high chance of fake review.

My concern is the distance between minsu and the nearest food stall.

I chop you it's worth, I stayed last year Oct. The staff might be thinking why suddenly Singaporean tourist are staying more at their place. Haha
It's right behind 豪大鸡排along the alley. Don't be put off by the alley, because that's the secret why it's not noisy though in XMD. It's just 2-3 monies walk to XMD station too

My stay in Kaohsiung for 3 nights, booked from Expedia ard $35 a night. It's one traffic light across Sanduo station, seems like a service apartment. Nothing fancy, but ok. They also allow late check out at NTD100 per hour up to 2pm.

go sleep haikou - $45
go sleep xining - $47 w breakfast
ecfa ximen - $46
ecfa wannien - $53 w breakfast
Muzik Hotel - Ximen Station Branch - $50
Diary of Ximen Hotel II - Liu Fu Branch - $50 w breakfast
itrip inn - $55
midtown richardson - $66 (today up to $88)

price are inclusive of taxes per room ...
room 12m2 to 20m2, depending on the hotel
however, price might varies, if travel dates are different ...

almost wanted to book midtown richardson ...
however, their room small 13m2 no window for 66sgd.
would rather stay at ecfa, diary of taipei, go sleep
room size bigger , at about 15m2 to 20m2

since we are not so picky , have stayed before those hotels,
hence rather save the $20+ and use them for makan ...

any hostel recommendation in Jiufen?

Will be staying there for 2d1night at Flip Flop hostel but I look at their location abit far or should I not stay overnight and go XMD for 5d4n?

currently after Jiufen I will go XMD 4d3n

Any one can advice?

imo no point to stay overnight at jiufen unless ya wana catch the sunrise scene. most shops close quite early at 7-8pm at night

Same here. wont stay at jiufen, later in case at night wanna go night market very hard. would go jiufen as a one time off thingy, hence would only go there one day ...

in the event, if anything happens, food poisoning or etc ...
if wanna go hospital, very hard. since u are at jufen , not at taipei city area ...

Checked papa whale xmd hotel @ $50.50 per nite for two ...
breakfast in is $59.50 per nite for two ...
breakfast is steamboat noodle + meat (not buffet style)

read review from online:
rooms are basement level for $50+ room, 16m2
soundproof quite bad, mosquito alot, no window most rooms

still thinking whether to stay this hotel or ecfa wannien or ecfa ximen ...
or diary of taipei ...
somemore with window, and with bath tub too
one nite is about $45 to $50+ , with breakfast (buffet style) for some ...

I spent less than half a day at Jiufen last year when I was there. Like the others mentioned, unless u want to see sunset / sunrise, else why dont go back Taipei rather?

I normally book a car for the day trip ... spent about an hour or so there only ...
too many people. few times it rained, super sian have to take out umbrella ...
the raindrops from people's umbrella would get onto your clothes ...

normally would carry umbrella lower ...

That area always rain. Went there in march, June and December, all hit by light shower. In March also got fogging.
