Not really, intel nowaday is getting really bad name.

On the other hand ppl are taking note of AMD recent comeback, ppl are more tech savy compared to Athlon 64 era.

I feel bad name or not, AMD is not a big threat to them. Sure Intel will lose market share, but will surely not cause a big dent to their earnings. This is similar to the AMD 64 days.

To be honest, the number of people who are not tech savvy far outweighs people like you and me that knows what is happening in the tech space. These folks will just go for the brand that they heard of the most, which is Intel.

The current situation AMD is in term of CPU technology vs Intel is no longer the same as Athlon 64. Infinity fabric is a shocking breakthrough that cause Intel to have no chance to retaliate.

In one year, we see CPU count gone from 16 to 32. That is absolute monster jump, which mean next year we will see it going to 64 or 48, and 128 or 96 soon after.

They are progressing even faster than MOORE LAWS. This is beyond crazy if you ask me. Now if AMD have 128 cores and Intel still struggling with 32 cores on their mesh gigantic monolithic die on 2020+. They will lose everything.

Even a tech rookie will know 128 cores is better than 32 cores. lol, and what is worst they will be price similar lols. I haven mentioned about possible IPC gains, clock speed from TSMC new nodes & memory optimisation for DDR5 etc. Their potential is really unimaginable.

Zen 2 having just +10% IPC, +15% clock speed and 50% more cores next year is enough to smack Intel to oblivion.

Can you imagine all supercomputers after Oak Ridge summit will be using Zen ++ cpus.

The new 8 cores I7 score 2212 in cinebench.

You know the score is actually very fake?

It's actually implying the guy ran the same OS disk containing the text file cinebench result folder on a threadripper then the engineering chip subsequently.

You can edit the numbers to whatever you want.

Fake or not it is confirm 8 cores mainstream is coming.

Anyway a 5 GHz CFL on 8 cores will give the score of 2.2K in cinebench. I dont see what is so surprising or fake on that.

You're missing the point.
The fact that threadripper numbers exist on the same Genuine Intel CPU 0000's result page is already a huge red flag.
1. In a way, implying the guy owned both of these (they are not demo results already included in cinebench)
-Meaning either the guy exported the cb_ranking folder to the other "CPU 0000" test system (like for what?)
-Or it was simply the same PC with the results doctored on a notepad.

2. Notice the other inconsistencies?
Cinebench reports base clocks and yet the threadripper purportedly reports boost clocks/actual clocks.

The originator of the "leak" is just generating clicks and buzz. But it's sad how some of the top tech sites aren't even checking the authenticity or filtering out things that aren't close to being remotely true and proceed with a retweet/repost for clicks, one copy the other..

Unker ah ma on the ground don't bother with this infinity fabric or cores thingy lar. Salesman recommend intel, they buy intel lor

Salesman will recommend 128 core for the price rather than 32 cores.

Or at least 16 cores AMD for budget vs. mainsteam 8 cores from intel, in year 2020.

Not true. Salesman will recommend what gives them more commission. It is not difficult for Intel to give stores/ manufacturers some benefits to market their product.

More likely it'll mean the 2800X is going to pop up to compete with it.

I actually feel if it is another 8c/16t part, it likely will not be much faster than the existing 2700X. The 2700X is anyway, already pushing the limits on the supposed 12nm when it comes to clockspeed.
