Guys. If I buy Amazon US stuffs using Youtrip, how do I make use of the Youtrip rate??

Sent from Stamford Bridge using GAGT

Just topup Youtrip SGD wallet to ensure there is sufficient fund. Then charge the amount in USD to the Youtrip mastercard, Youtrip will auto convert based on mastercard rate from USD to SGD.

You can opt to convert SGD to USD in youtrip wallet before the purchase (if you think USD will be higher later), but thus will risk you not converting enough USD, or have stray USD in youtrip wallet if you convert too much.

Thank you for all the advice. Anybody encountering issue topping up youtrip e-wallet using SG credit cards when overseas?

Prefer to top up only when I need to use it so that I dont have to leave too much $ in the e-wallerly..

Top up 1 time using the credit card first, 2nd time don't need OTP.

If you have already linked your credit card, you only need to tap "Top-Up", key in the amount and within seconds, the YouTrip wallet is topped up. No additional hoops to jump through. The process is so simple and fast that it is scary.

Caveat: You need reasonable data signal during top-up and YouTrip servers must not be down or undergoing maintenance. Have so far gone on 2-3 trips, each time topping up 4-5 times. 100% success rate.

But I still carry a normal credit card as a backup, just in case ... ... ;)

I know a lot of people have shared their horrifying experience in using this card in the past. How is it like now, especially in Japan? Any missing transaction, transaction pending for 1376483 days, wrong amount debited etc?

Note: No time to apply other cards.

If I linked my credit card for top up to youtrip wallet, must I activate my linked credit card for overseas usage to be able to top up when I was in overseas?

No issue using in Japan but take note that Japan is still largely a cash society. Be prepared to withdraw cash using youtrip instead.

If you have GrabPay MC, it is better to use it for online purchases in Foreign Currency. Yes, you will be charged a 1% Bank fee but you gain Grab Points which is effectively around 2.5% rebate (for Platinum members).

7/11 atm works like a charm, no local atm fees, just the SGD 5 YouTrip fee
