Hi,
I am looking at a decent desktop where I can use it for work and some online gaming.

Lenovo has pretty good student discount and the specs looks decent. So far I shortlisted:

IdeaCentre A540 (24, Intel)

vs

IdeaCentre A540 (27, Intel)

The only difference I could see between these 2 is just

Graphics: AMD RADEON 540X 2G 2GB GDDR5 vs Intel UHD Graphics 630 vs

Which one is a better grahpics card?

really depends on what requirement your online game....and i would said that 540x is just barely the lowest setting u can go for playing it and intel uhd u can don't bother.

AIO PC are not meant for gaming.
It is using Notebook CPU and Graphic thus
Compare with a actual desktop it maybe slower.
Suggest go for a desktop like the new Dell Inspiron 3881 with Geforce 1650 around $1.3k.
Add a gaming monitor would be a better option.

There is xps and g5 you can consider also.
But the i7 option will be over $2k.
Generally if you are light gaming, i5 will be suffice.

Thks for the recommendation. $1.6k is really a good buy just that it has no monitor. Saw a decent gaming 24" monitor [https://qoo.tn/BeneAX] at <$200..so its still less than 2k overall

10th Gen Intel® Core™ i7-10700F processor(8-Core16M Cache2.9GHz to 4.8GHz)

Windows 10 Home, 64-bit, English

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1660 SUPER™ 6GB GDDR6

16GB, 1x16GB, DDR4, 2933MHz

512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe Solid State Drive

Certain configuration have no option for dual channel kit unless Dell G5 than
have.

https://www.dell.com/en-sg/shop/des...5000-desktop/spd/g-series-5000-desktop?~ck=bt

Take note these days i7 doesn't mean it's the best, i7 vs i5 difference
is the core.
i5 is 6 core while i7 is 8 core, games wise i5 and i7 perform not from each other.

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-core-i5-10600k-cpu-review

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/intel-core-i7-10700k-cpu-review

If you want to save $ so you can get a better gaming monitor with G-sync can go for the i5 option instead.

If TS is planning to spend $1600 to $1700, can also consider Aftershock PC.

It is cheaper, comes with a better graphics card, can upgrade to future Ryzen 4000 CPU without changing motherboard (unlike Intel), parts are not proprietary (unlike Dell) and has a 3 year warranty (1st year onsite pickup and return).

The price and specs of the Aftershock PC. Link from:
https://www.aftershockpc.com/welcome/ProductconfigRec/rapid

**Take Note, you have to change the CPU from Ryzen 5 3600 to Ryzen 7 3700 in order to have the price as below**

Price: $1590

3 Years Parts Warranty (1st Year Onsite Pickup and Return)
-RAPID Mesh Edition High Airflow Tempered Glass Chassis
-For AMD - GIGABYTE B550M DS3H (4 Ram Slots)
-AMD RYZEN 7 3700X | 4.4 GHZ | 8 Cores 16 Threads
-ZOTAC RTX 2060 OC 6GB
-Premium Enthusiast Grade Thermal Compound
-16GB Klevv BOLT X 3200 Mhz (8x2)
-AIR COOLING : Intel / AMD stock cooling fan
-512GB SAMSUNG M.2 NVME SSD (R: 3500 | W: 2900)
-AFTERSHOCK S1 ARGB Fans X 4
-Standard Cable Setup
-600W FSP/EVGA 80+ Certified PSU
-Windows 10 Home 64bit ***(Unactivated)***

I would suggest going for Aftershock than Dell or Lenovo.

Seem
Intel® Core™ i7-10700 | 4.80 GHZ | 8 Cores 16 Threads is better than Ryzen 7 3700. The cost came up to$1.7k with the other specs remaining as "recommended"

My budget is not to exceed 2k including monitor. Seems doable

The slight difference in performance is not worth the extra $110, which can go towards a better graphics card (more noticeable frame rate improvement) or a 2nd hard disk (handy as modern games are having install sizes of 100GB or more).

There are also more advantages for the AMD platform:

(1) Ryzen 3700X can be overclocked whereas i7-10700 cannot
(2) B550 motherboard supports future Ryzen 4000 CPUs, can overclock RAM and
supports PCIe 4.0.
Whereas for Intel, only the more expensive Z490 motherboard can overclock the
CPU (not supported by non "K" Intel CPU) and overclock the RAM. There is also no
PCIe 4.0 support for the 2 options of Z490 motherboards provided by Aftershock.

May I know what is the resolution of your monitor? And the titles of the games that you currently play? As these factors will determine what video card you need.

Gaming wise, its mainly for my kids. At their age, Roblux, Fortnite and maybe for myself PUBG

As for the monitor, maybe:

or

https://qoo.tn/BXExAX/Q112656559

Budget around $200 for a decent monitor

This games to be honest no need to spend so much on really high end
specs with i7.
Cuz these days the difference between both Intel and AMD chips.

Is like this, Intel i5 10600 6 core Intel i7 10700 8 Core.
If you see Fornite system reqirements:

Recommended System Requirements
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870 or equivalent DX11 GPU
Video Memory: 2 GB VRAM
Processor: Core i5-7300U 3.5 GHz
Memory: 8 GB RAM
OS: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit or Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6
Minimum System Requirements
Video Card: Intel HD 4000 on PC or Intel Iris Pro 5200 or equivalent AMD GPU on Mac
Processor: Core i3-3225 3.3 GHz
Memory: 4 GB RAM
OS: Windows 7/8/10 64-bit or Mac OS Mojave 10.14.6

Mac computers must support Metal API. Check if your Mac supports Metal here.

Note: Fortnite no longer supports Nvidia cards on Mac.

If you just meet the minimum system requirements, Fortnite will run on your machine, but probably not on the highest settings. Reducing the graphics settings in Fortnite and disabling background apps will help.

https://www.epicgames.com/help/th/f...requirements-for-fortnite-on-pc-and-mac-a3332

My advice just look at the system requirement to determine what is best PC for your kids to play game.
My opinion Dell G5 at $1498 will be suffice for the games your kids play.

https://www.dell.com/en-sg/shop/gaming-and-games/dell-g5-gaming-desktop/spd/g-series-5000-desktop

Than buy a gaming monitor and you are good to go.

https://www.dell.com/en-sg/shop/del...hgf/apd/210-awlu/monitors-monitor-accessories

Take note games like Fornite is multiplayer, if you buy a decent spec PC.
However if your network isn't fast like using Wifi for gaming.
The game may lag so games like Fornite need a decent PC and
LAN connection with fast network for smooth gameplay.
