It's better to not use rechargeable batteries for your digital door lock. Better to use alkaline or lithium batteries.

Why not? Because there won't be a warning signal emitted by your door locks if you're using rechargeable. If you want to use it, at the very least make sure you have a 9V battery with you. So you could at least open your door..

This is a frightening thread. The 1st gen seems to suffer from MB failure, batt mgmt problem, mech failure, reliability issues after 1 yr of use. Can see more, new and fancy models coming out in 2020, quite sure the above issues are better handled.

Anyone got locked out of the house before due to digital lock failure (not battery issue) to open and nobody at home? Had a near miss this morning. The lock failed to open when i was heading out and nobody was at home thus will be locked when returning home.

The lock was consider relatively new, about 2yrs of usage.

Me! Samsung digital lock backlight failed - couldn't see the numbers!
Only popped out for a short while, so didn't bring along my RFID tag.

Keep touching the wrong number positions and failing until suddenly the lights came on - quickly punched in the code and got into the house.

When it was still failing intermittently, I used silver marker pen to dot the locations of the digits - so it works fine.

Now the backlight is totally dead - the silver dots are very important now.

Go dot your numbers now! :)

Using igloohome deadbolt 2 for just over 2 years now and 2 of them have spoilt. Gave up on igloohome now. Looking at locks now and came across bosch digital lock. Any comments about the new bosch mortise locks or better to replace with yale deadbolt locks?

Yes. Please share the hack n create awareness.

I'm already trying to create awareness by my previous post.

For the sake of the bros who own this kind of digital lock for letterbox, please pm me if you own one and I will share what I found. Then, you may decide to try it yourself and report back in. If you don't own such lock, please do not try it on your neighbour's or others' lock as it is against the law.

Needless to say, sharing the hack publicly without any countermeasure will even more expose these locks to such hack. So, please be considerate.

Please also note I will not respond to any more pm regarding this after this month, Aug 2020.

I was also considering to install one until I came across a hack which can easily open this kind of lock under one second with the right, not-so-hard-to-find, tool. No skills/effort required.

I understand that some bros here are using it so I don't want to spell out how exactly here.
now every where CCTV.. Who want to take the risk to steal some of your worthless mail and go jail? I think if they really want to open it..brute force open the mailbox is also not difficult..

Hi. I had a close relative shared that his lock was tempered with by strangers WHILE HE WAS AT HOME. A police report was made. He was told that a few of his neighbours had also reported similar cases. The police could only increase their patrol and do nothing else.

Please share what kind of hack it is so that I can caution my cousin.
