Starhub/SCV Adaptor/Cable in DB Box/Rooms

Dear All,


I collected the keys to my new HDB flat in 2016.

There is SCV/Starhub cable/adaptor in the DB box.


Just googled and learnt that Starhub discontinued the Cable TV/Broadband in 2019.


So, any use for these SCV Cable?
Can I just remove the adaptor and cut off the cable in DB Box?

Just want to make the DB Box less messy.

I call the number shown on the Adaptor 68732828 but it is only have pre-recorded information about Free Digital TV and could not talk to any CSO.

Are you using Pay TV or just free to air TV? Just need to leave the cable TV thing as it is.

Those SCV coaxial cables .... you can use Moca network. I believe you should have 3 points distributed to Living room and 2 bedrooms.

Don’t cut it. It is very precious.

Those SCV coaxial cables .... you can use Moca network. I believe you should have 3 points distributed to Living room and 2 bedrooms.

Don’t cut it. It is very precious.

You don’t need to use Moca but leave it for now.... who knows what future plan you may have that might require you to utilise those coaxial cables....

Since each room already has a LAN point, you do not necessary need to use MOCA to use the Coaxial Cables for your network.

Will not recommend removing or touching it as it could be of use in future.

It would come into great use when..
- Faulty LAN cables that you can't replace (as they are running within the walls). You can still use the coaxial cables with MOCA as the alternative.
- If you need to create a second network or need to expand the network without additional laying of cables. Sometimes, it could also be that the coaxial points are in a better location than the RJ45 point.

Nope. They are not laying new coaxial cable anymore. U can use it to pull CAT 6 wires if needed. That's what I did.

I think they refer to router instead of modem.

ONT/ONR with or without Recontract spoil they must replace you since you paying them subscription fee.

Wifi router is only cover when u are will in contract.

the ONT is property of ISP. Built into the monthly subscription, is its "rental". that's why they will fix /replace it. provided no evidence of abuse.

You will still pay S$29.9 if you recontract, and you will not get a new ONT or new router, so indeed no incentive to recontact with Starhub 500Mbps.

I was kind of in the same situation as you two years ago with SingTel Fibre Entertainment+ (500Mbps broadband and Singtel TV Family Starter bundle ) -- they told me that I need to recontract to replace faulty ONT and SingTel TV box (both were still usable but with faulty power supply contacts since both were issued during my first sign-up in Feb 2012).

In the end I got a good deal so I recontracted and replaced both. I upgraded to 1Gbps Internet and downgraded my SingTel TV to Family Favourite. I still save quite a bit because my old bundle was expensive at S$69.9 and later S$74.9.

Yes, mine also Fibre Entertainment+ but I stopped the TV service 2 years ago after its contract ended. Now only pay $29.9 for the Fibre.

Correct, that was what they told me on the phone earlier (quite some time before the recontract). I was out of contract for quite a few years at that time. So I think they were pushing me to recontract.

I think the information is not correct. Both the ONT and SingTel TV box are under SingTel and they should replace when you are still a subscriber, even out of contract.
