Issues after upgrading to ICS

Hello,

I faced these issues after upgrading to 4.0.4 through Kies. Have done hard reset but problems remain:

A. Home screens have some kind of spec/data permanently there. Changing wall paper doesn't help. It appears to be between the wallpaper and the various icons. Checked 'Developer Options' but all check boxes are blank.

B. Cannot screen lock although settings clearly show I have activated pattern screen lock. Also tried face, password lock options but still cannot.

C. When shutting down by long press of the power botton, the phone shuts down immediately. here is no option screen to select 'airplane mode' or to confirm shut down etc.

Grateful if someone could help please.

Thank you.

Thanks Halocast. Did that. Still no change. All three issues remain. Generally, I like ICS better but these three problems are making it less likeable.

Didn't work too. Have been spending too much time resetting phone :s22:
Came across a post in another forum about the lack of lock screen and shut down option (cannot find solution to those psecs on the home screen though) - need to root phone and change some instructions. Well, I don't know how to do that and I need the phone until at least Jun then I will upgrade to the S4. But thanks for all the help anyway. Appreciate it very much!

Unable to connect to wi-fi

I'm a new Android user and currently using the Samsung Note 2.

I have problems connecting to the wireless network both at work and at home even to both shows strong signals. Each time I try to connect I will get the 'Network disabled. Poor connection' message.

What could be the problem and can anyone help me out here? Any help would be appreciated.

your motherboard might have issue.
did u try resetting the phone?

wipe the phone/reset factory settings. see if it helps
otherwise send it in to service center
most likely is motherboard issue. :s12: its the faster way to diagnose your problem.

Hi bro,
Thanks for yr reply. By resetting the phone, will all the contents and data be wiped out as well? How do I actually perform this reset?

Yes contents/data will be wipe out.

To boot the Galaxy S2 into recovery mode, first turn off the device. Then simply press and hold the Volume up button, the Home button and the Power button at the same time. Keep holding the buttons until you have reached the recovery mode.

From there there shld be

"wipe data/factory reset"
"wipe cache partition"

TechCredo | How to boot the Samsung Galaxy S2 into recovery mode

use the volume buttons to navigate and power button to select i think.

Recently updated my i9100 to 4.04 via KIES, then the phone started prompting for software update.
After updating software, the phone bricked.
Doesn't turn on at all, 3 button combo doesn't work.
Tried USB jig that was confirmed to work with friend's i9100, also cannot get into download mode.

Still charges when plugged in, battery gets warm.

I fear it is hard-bricked, anyone managed to salvage a hard brick?

Are you using CM10.1? This has been fixed since 16 July. Flash 23 or 24 Jul nightly and you will be fine.

You clear your AGPS cache by using GPSTEST.
