Can you please advise on where & how I should go about selling these coins?

From personal experience, if you want to get most money, best way is usually to sell to another collector or online like ebay. Plated coins usually can only sell them online anyway if you want decent money back.

Local dealers offer only bullion buyback price normally.

Personally I'll keep them if I know it was the treasure of someone I love dearly.

Anyone into keeping historical old gold coins from Europe such as 20 francs, marks, lire, etc? Find a lot of their detail very nice and may consider keeping 1 from each country.

I'll recommend you can read up some books about collection gold coins with numismatic values, its very different from collecting just modern gold coins.

Some of the difference between them:
1. Usually you pay a lot more than the gold content it holds compare to gold bullion. But if you can get them as cheap as bullion then its another story.
2. Its usually not .999 pure and has no gold content shown on the coin, means you need more knowledge when buying/selling normally.
3. Value of coin depends largely on its condition compare to bullion.

Personally I have a few century old US gold coins certified by PCGS. I can only say its very different from collecting modern gold coins so you have to do some homework.

Just make sure you are doing something you enjoy, in my humble opinion thats the most important thing in coin collecting, don't just listen to what others say because what works for other people might not be for you.

Cheers

I might be interested to get some old circulated sovereigns just for keepsake.

Think most of the stuff there are overpriced...

What makes you think it is overpriced? It is not a place for you to get gold or silver at spot...There is a reason why it is called a coin show not a precious metals exhibition... What's next those paper notes at the exhibition is overpriced because it is sold not at a few cents...

Went today to browse at the coins. It is a rare chance to see some coins that is not commonly available here. Cannot afford to buy anything. Maybe tomorrow go browse again to satisfy one's desire.

What did you all buy from the Singapore International Coin Fair?

Idunno, just find that buying from the retail shop (GSC, DK, etc.) seems cheaper by a couple of dollars ba. That's all...

How can you compare buying bullion and semi numis from retail shop with numismatic shop...It is like comparing a casio watch with a Patek watch and conclude that casio is cheaper...
