The strongest hint of a black and white camera yet. Laid out for you. Any imaging expert wanna comment on a dual lens setup using monochrome and color lens?

Let me try to decide the Leica nomenclature for the lens :

Summarit H 1:2.2/27

Summarit - a series of lenses officially in the Leica stable for its own cameras. It is very notable they're using summarit instead of inventing some funny name for it (like Dichomar for some Panasonic products)

H - specially designed for Huawei

2.2 - it's F value. Although the value is high there are 2 lenses for double the light. Perhaps the actual amount of light is somewhat more like f1.7?

27mm this is a 27 mm focal length. The shorter the focal length the wider the lens but the more difficult to control optical distortion. IPhone 6s is 29mm and S7 is 26mm. Leica chose 27mm I guess found a good balance.

If only P9 can have the same Dual Sim functionality as Mi5, I may consider getting this rather than the Mi5. Tired of waiting for Mi5 flash sales...

Singapore version should have dual SIM but to be confirmed. The previous p8 had dual Sim anyway.

I don't think this p9 will be treated as generically as MI5 once the announcement comes on the 6th.

Bros you have no idea how much I lust for a non Panasonic Leica. I hate Pana sensor. But now have chance. Maybe even Huawei manufactured Sony sensor Leica lens. Woot!

Did they say anything about 4K video recording? The Kirin 950 mate 8 doesnt support so dunno if 955 is any different. I doubt its a software update but more like a hardware limitation on the 4K. It would suck to have such nice lens but cant do 4K video recording.

If their mate 9 is gonna have 6" screen, it will be too big.. Plus they will not have DU ROMs!!
Well, you get a Nexus 6p because you want the latest and greatest software, that alone makes the 6p a class on its own.

P is supposed to be flagship series and Mate is `business user' series. Something like P=Galaxy S and Mate=Galaxy Note

But P9 will have the highest end camera in any phone at the time of its release I think.

Don't know. But I've never ever used 4K on anything before. We'll know this on 6 April I guess.

Yes, the Nexus is a class of its own. But for anyone thirsting a Leica Summarit lens on a phone here it is!

There is an excellent video on Youtube which speaks of the advantages of dual lens cameras, on the Huawei Honor 6+: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfuCWlrX0K4

1. Low Light Performance

If you want great low light performance, increase aperture camera lens size for higher light gathering power. But that means big camera. Another way is to have 2 lenses to 2X light gathering ability.

2. Sensitivity to light - even better low light performance

Bigger pixels since resolution from 2 low megapixel sensors can be combined to make 1 high megapixel picture.

3. Faster focus!

2 lenses make it possible to triangulate the position of subject so it's gonna focus real fast

4. Noise reduction for cleaner pictures

Since noise is random, combining the sensor data from 2 separate sensors will make it possible to reduce noise dramatically in low light high iso situation.

5. Instant HDR for higher dynamic range

Taking 2 pictures simultaneously will enable you to HDR every shot with no delay, and the resulting shot will have very high dynamic range not possible with single lens cameras.

6. Multiple focus points

With 2 lenses one can focus front and the other can focus back, and the resulting picture can change focus AFTER taking the shot. Just in case you focus wrongly :)

7. Notice Huawei is doing a lot of monochrome pictures in its teaser ads. And the #OO logo itself one is monochrome and one is color. This opens up a whole new dimension, we'll know on Wednesday 6 April 2016 on what this magic feature is.

looks great. just prefer the round finger sensor of the mate 8 over the square. but never mind that. if price is right, it'll be my buy. design is great for 2 things: thin bezel, no physical frontal buttons. The other 2 big brands are getting uglier day by day.
