Please recommend me credit card(s) based on my spending profile.

Bank: OCBC360
Current credit card: OCBC365

Main expenditure: dining.
Transport: $100/mth
Occasional spending at supermarkets.
Starhub telco bill: $50+/mth
Occasional online groceries

Fail to hit $500 half of the time.
But if i manage to hit $500, can get about $9 of credit interest.

Big ticket items: Air tics and hotel booking once a year (sometimes more if im helping family members to buy).

Can onli qualify for credit cards that's below 70k.

So, what is card sld i be using? sld i jus stick to ocbc365? or are there any cards out there that is more suitable for me? im wondering if i sld get a uob card bcos scoot have special offer for uob cards from time to time.

if you cannot hit $500/month, then best to go with either
(i) miles card
(ii) cards with no min spend

Ocbc 365 needs min $600 for higher rebates. You have been not been hitting this for more than half the time?

If you can constantly at least spend $500 every month boc smartsaver+ boc family card would be a good alternative.

Yes cant hit $500 half the time and feel the spent amount like 'wasted' as it didnt help earn much cash rebate.

Not sure how air miles compare against cash back tho... And given my low spending, it will probabaly take some time before i can redeem any tics... Will air miles expire?

Citi premiermiles, miles wont expire and you can choose to change the miles for cash rebate

If you don't hit $500/month half the time, miles cards are not for you. Even if DBS Altitude/Citibank Permiermiles have no expiry dates, it will still take too long to accumulate a meaningful amount of miles. I also don't like using those two cards for local spending because at 1.2 miles/ S$1, there are other miles cards that give more miles/S$1.

Similarly with points cards. If you don't hit $500/month, this is not meaningful. Points expire. And even if you can exchange points for cash/credit, the exchange rate is usually not good.

No, what I think you should get is cash rebates cards that have no minimum spending, and get 2 of them: one for your main expenditure of dining, and one for everyday purchase.

For dining, ANZ optimum (set to dining category) offers 5% cash back with no minimum spending.
For general spending, get the Amex True Cashback (5% cash back for first 3 months, 1.5% afterwards). If the establishment don't support Amex, use ANZ optimum that gives 1% cash back for general spending.

ANZ optimum cc has min spend of $10 per day for 1% cashback right? If yes, then what cc will you use for below $10? I think is SCB Manhattan cc for 0.5% right?

I did think of that, but he'd have to maintain $300 spending for 3 months before getting the 3.33% rebate. Miss one month, and it's zero percent back. :s22:

For the same reason, I didn't include OCBC Frank/365, UOB One, SC Manhattan/Singpost, Citi Dividend/SMRT, BOC Family - even though they all potentially give much higher cash back, you have to meet the minimum spending.

Citi bank dividend seems like a good alternative for YS

You're right and thanks for pointing out, that for general spending of 1% cash back for ANZ Optimum, you get nothing if the transaction is less than $10. I don't think it's per day but per transaction? Anyway I don't use ANZ Optimum personally so not too clear on this.

In that case for TS, I guess it's Amex True cashback if he spends less than $10. If Amex can't be used, meh, POSB Everyday is better than nothing i suppose.

If you're asking about me, for my general spending for which no other specialty card can be used, I use ANZ Travel card to get 1.4 miles, and that card includes even the cents when awarding miles.

Maybank platinum visa seems like the safest

Don't think there is any min spending for anz optimum cashback. But it's just that anz will round down the optimum point to the nearest whole number at end of month

Needs $888 spending to get 8% cashback which is capped at $25 per category (petrol, grocery, dining). Potentially $75 cash rebate, but TS doesn't spend $888 per month.

Dont think SCB Manhatten cc got min spend coz i use it for below $10 spend for 0.5% cashback. ;)

Minimum spending of $3,000 to get 3% cashback. $1k -$1999 gets you 1%, anything below that is 0.5%. If you spend below 3k, you're better off using AMEX true cash back for 1.5%.

Manhattan is only good if the shop doesn't accept AMEX, and you're spending below $10 (otherwise anz optimum would be a better choice).

thanks all. based on the suggestions so far, i think there are 2 options:

1. ANZ Optimum + Amex true cash back.
However, im not sure if i qualify for ANZ optimum as it requires annual salary of at least 80k p.a.

2. Maybank Platinum visa.
Better option provided i can hit 300/mth for each month of the quarter. May I know if i can include ez-reload, sp svcs, telco bills as part of the $300?

EDIT: no wait, maybank platinum is actually terrible for me... initially tot it is 3.33%.... then i realise it is up to 3.33%
