There can be miracles, when you believe...

Let's wait till the product is available in sg and see...

Edit: read that the China variant with global ROM does support 4g/3g standby. Now we need to see if India variant supports the same...

Thank you for sharing this information...

Yes. Got 1 bro here able to do so in mi5.
This was his screenshot... But of course, need a local mi5 to reconfirm (when officially launched here).

Didn't understand why nobody believed me when I said that our dual sim supports 4G/3G..

Need to be more convincing next time...:s13:

What happened to your original battery?

When charging it shows 100%, removed plug 5mins or less show less than 5%.

I was watching runningman once while leaving it plugged in... Guess that killed the batt as this phone can get quite hot with heavy usuage like when gaming.

Dual 4/3G isn't just a software trick. Else those Custom ROM maker for sure bake it in long long time ago.

It involves hardware too. Can do some Google then you know what I mean.

OUR hardware supports it, just that you need to enable it through the hidden menu [type in USSD Code] select Field Test, Modem Settings, LTE Band Selection;)

Been doing this to both on my G3 and G4. But if you are using the HK version you should get 4G/3G automaticlly if you are in HK and china. If you are in SG you need to know your service provider bands to enable the 2nd SIM 3G settings.

I tried pressing 277634#*# and there is no response. Mine is a sg set with hk/global set.

I hope to turn on 3g for my 2nd sim. Can advise?

So, after entering the Hidden Menu,

I went to Field Test > Modem Settings > Network Mode

THere's a long list of bands that the phone supports, and you can click on each to test. It will show SUCCESS/FAIL

Below are the SUCCESS selections for both sims

SIM 1 (Singtel), WCDMA 850, 900, 1900, 2100 and GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900

SIM 2 (Maxis), only GSM 850, 900, 1800, 1900

Now, if I switched SIM 1 to any of the GSM bands, the SIM 2 became able to select the WCDMA bands...

Which proves that SIM1/SIM2 can only exist in a (4G or 3G) / 2G combination or 2G / (4G or 3G)

FYI, WCDMA are the 3G, 3.5G (HSDPA), 3.75G (HSPA+) network types; and
GSM are the 2G network types

LTE is LTE ...

go to=>Hidden Menu=>Field Test=>Modem Settings=>Network Mode

You should see what are your SIM 1 & SIM 2 factory enabled modem protocols. In order for your 4G/3G to work you first have to knw your service provider 3G network band(s).

Tried clicking all bands for sim 2 and all failed except what hellojeffo has mentioned. Only 2g...
