Btw, nobody call Citibank and asked when the heck are they activating Apple Pay?
i doubt the CSO would know a thing bah. their backend will need to do some adjustments. and if they are confident, they would have let Apple put their label on Apple's site.

remember how long this 5 banks' cocktease was around on Apple Pay's site? :s13:

Oh, that mean they slow, other banks already start today yet Citbank still don't know when. Just wow! Indeed Citibank US and SG huge difference, 100% inequality
according to the ST article, it says the foreign banks need to upgrade some back-end system that takes time. :o

surprisingly, because i thought that citibank would have quite a large customer base on CCs.

Keep in mind that if you have multiple cards in the Apple wallet, the last used card is the default card. If want to change it, need to go back into wallet and select other cards and make a payment, then the default card will change.

press your finger on the home button?

Yes, it's considered as Visa PaWave transaction, and DBS Live Fresh card gives you 5% cashback for Visa PayWave transactions (w/ min mthly spend of $700)
Suppose I pump $80 of petrol at Esso. Normally, upon presenting the DBS Esso MC, the amount payable is the discounted figure and is known to me. With ApplePay, what would the process flow be like?

Question:

Do we still have to tell counter staff that we will be using VISA PayWave or Amex PayWave or Mastercard PayWave? Or just tell them we will be using PayWave or Apple Pay, and terminal auto-detects it is VISA or Amex or Mastercard?

I felt a bit frustrated in the past weeks in some shops when using Amex Apple Pay, they accept Amex card, they have Pay Wave terminal, but Apple Pay just couldn't go thru, even the shop is officially listed in Amex Merchants list like Streets Hong Kong Cafe.

If the terminal has to be pre-entered some code to enable VISA paywave or Amex paywave accordingly, then VISA/Mastercard may bring even more confusion.

Yes, any kind of 'wave' will do regardless whether they do ApplePay or not.

Detection on the terminal brings up on ApplePay on your phone and the default card will be used to complete the payment.

While I am in the UK, i usually would say 'contactless' and just scan my phone on the reader.

It should work the same, so tell them by Esso card (or whichever card), and they will discount and you can just ApplePay it.
