hi any expat here that can help me out?

for the New HDB BTO Flats that come with the "MATV Antenna Box with Splitters", can I remove the Incoming from HDB and plug a New Digital Antenna with booster in to cover the whole house?

anyone tried that out yet before?

then I can hide my antenna else where and cover the whole house with one digital antenna!!! :D

The MATV antenna is meant for you to subscribe to starhub cable tv
they are proprietary no such thing as one digital antenna that can cover whole hse tv

Possible, someone has tried it before using just passive antenna. Read his posting here.

Thanks for pointing to my post!

Yes did that and all still working well after 1 month. No weak signal, no dropouts, no problem. Very happy with the result. Really worth trying if you have more than 1 TV and don't want antennas all over the rooms.

But take note like 5star_pundit says, after that you won't be able to receive Starhub signals.

Just checking, the passive antenna you used, is it rated as 16dbi gain?

Hi,

TV noob here. after reading a few pages of jargon, can i clarify or understand a few things from TV expert here.

Im using a old LCD TV. dun know what model, but confirm not TVB2 ready.
I only watch normal local channels. TV5, TV8, CNA, okto, etc.

1) i need to purchase a STB(setup box) and a indoor DTV-T2 antenna to receive all the new digital channels? (no need to connect the TV to the wall outlet anymore?)
2) What if my old TV does not have USB ports? (Do i really need to upg rade my TV)
3) new digital TV signals are clearer and have subtitles? TV guides?
4) for those who have upgrade, is it really worth the upgrade? or wait and see?
5) where to buy or test these STB or antenna? Courts? Best Denki?

Thanks a lot.

1. yes.
2. You don't need USB port for dvb-t2 receiver.
3. Much better, world of difference.
4. It is just $25 for box + antenna, why wait.
5. The best place is qoo10. Pay $25 and they will deliver the box +antenna to your house.

Don't waste your money to buy expensive antenna. Try the simple monopole antenna comes with the box, if have problem, then look for better antenna.

Since your TV has only 1 hdmi port, your need to buy a hdmi switch, it is available from qoo10 or aliexpress, $5-10 only.

installed my new tv few hours ago , first experience ... share here

cck , low floor , 2 meter away from window facing south ... signal good so far no problem in first few hours
using a 6inch x 9inch card style antenna , passive , rated as 5dbi only ... photo I posted last page ... USD$6 from amazon ,slightly less at ebay.com.sg

picture quality really good , very impressed , far surpass streaming 1080p content on computer because free platforms like youtube compress bitrate and sacrifice color

sound on my tv is quite weak , it goes from 20 to 100 .... even at 100 it's like human raise voice lidat not anywhere near dangerously loud deaf
my mother don't like it .... takes too much button effort

I using the old tv as backup monitor for PC , accidentally pressed old remote in room to hdmi input and killed the signal setting at living room new tv (wow they are slightly compatible) , had to redo the ~4 minute auto scan while everybody was waiting

new tv no basic buttons , don't know what will happen if remote spoil
colours quite ok based on human skin tone , don't feel like tuning it ..... only reduced backlight from 65 to 40
deleted those analog channels for faster channel surfing
bought my TV from qoo10 ....include delivery -3% "giftcard discount" ... about 25% savings from retail store 599 msrp

better get a proper monitor, less $150 can get you a 24" 1920x1080 monitor.

The pixels on TV screen are coarse, they are meant for watching at a distance of several feet. Not comfortable to use as monitor, bad for the eyes.

Which is better?

Hi guys, can you explain the dbi on the dsc550 vs funke 5.1, because 550 has 30 while the 5.1 has 26. Btw, the 550 at hougang is clear when placed behind tv, while the 5.1 a millenia walk placed at the tv console after I took it down shows no signal.Help!!:s12::s12::s12:

Just curious anyone using this Wavecom ANT-T01 antenna? I bought it from qoo10 but it does not work for my smart TV.

I have tried my smart TV in another room which has the SCV point connected to the matv and it works.

My setup:
1. Samsung TV 5500 series
2. Wavecom ANT-T01 with the specs below:
Frequency: 174-230Mhz / 470-860Mhz
Gain: 3dBi
Impedance : 75Ω
Polarization: Vertical
Connector: IEC (m)
Cable length: 1.5m
Antenna dimension: 120-350mm

Wondering if it could be the placing or the indoor reception issue on low levels?

This antenna will be good enough?

My digital TV coming soon. Looked around for antenna at neighborhood shops. Came across one with the trademark "FM", Made-in-Singapore. A metal loop type. Info on the package says can receive 9 channels plus several more in Malaysia; even mention Indonesia. Anyone use this on a DVB-T2 TV? Recommendable?

what is the exact model name for the TV? has dvb-t2 receiver or not?

Are you using the antenna I am referring to?

I believe the Malaysian channels referred to on the package are the analog ones. The model of the TV I hv purchased can receive analog as well as digital channels.
