Hi everyone.

For ladies, does Matt or Glossy frame suits better? Which one is better?

Does all optical shops make the lenses (any shape & size) for us?
Example: Like if I bring my own spectacle frame that I bought somewhere else to the optician shop, they can just make the lenses for us and put inside the frame.

Both is fine, better would be more on shape/size of the frame. And yes you can bring your own frame to other shop to make. Understandable as not all shops have the frame you like..

Any comments on Pentax lens? Saw their price list and it's way cheaper than other major brands.

Japanese lens! Not too bad. Clarity is good. Can fight with the major lenses. Maybe lose out slightly just slightly.
Is it new or they made a comeback cos don't recall Pentax lens...

Price is really attractive too, much cheaper than the supposedly cheapest brand Crizal.

Pentax is relatively New to spore. A company in Singapore is their distributor. Imho it's fine if you are looking for an average lens.

Japanese lenses in the market currently are Hoya, tokai, asahi, Seiko and more.. not to worry.

Coating also no issue so far from what I see.

Lens claification

Hi would like to check if i am wearing a Hoya Pro Summit lens (progessive), would there be a difference in comfort if i get a cheaper Japanese lens, as i have heard if i am wearing a hoya lens now, i might not be adapatable if i get a no brand lens, those like calligraphy from ILT.

and how about quality of the lens as well.

Pentax also owned by hoya.

Market is dominated by Big E, Hoya, then Zeiss... with smaller players like tokai

Generally there's no absolute way to know unless you try it. But not everyone requires freeform progressives. Some can't tell the difference. If you are doing fine before freeform progressives are introduced, then you probably don't need to upgrade. Branded AR coatings are generally better and lasts longer, but if you don't need AR then it's probably fine.

Actually just found out in JB, the Crizal airwear is selling around $130 even before negotiation.

Anyone has experience with JB Crizal?

Crizal is overrated imo, nothing special

airwear aka polycarbonate is not a good optical material, unless you really need something that is impact resistant. it's abbe ratio too low

Freeform are those surfaced from a blank piece of lens.

Traditional progressives are made from a moulded piece.

AR is for anti reflective coating

Anyone knows where to do Nike frame?
Went to this optician, they quote $700.
Too much to commit.
