yo,

for those awaiting re-appeal cases, i hope you guys don't get your hopes too high.. take it from me, waiting from SMU for 4 years. in the end i lazy liao to check.

don't pin all the hopes into one too. my personal experience was the interviewer telling me (via email after I re-appealed, even to the dean) that it was not his decision, but to the admissions office.

i mean if that was the case, why bother interviewing and wasting people's time?
many opportunity costs esp for those that could went ahead and re-take A levels with a closure instead of them lingering for a slim chance of hope.

personally too, i have not met anyone that has gotten in after re-re appeals..

my point is - best to have a back-up plan in case this fails instead of feeling lost and down. if they REALLY want you, they would have done'd it back in June admissions (2nd window).

I'm sorry to hurt the feelings here, but it's harsh truths, a price we paid for not doing that extra well..

I understand what you mean because I just received their 3rd rejection 5mins ago. My third appeal even included a personalised written letter from my boss at AXA Singapore after my internship but it didn't work out. I even secured an employment at my workplace 2 weeks ago and made sure the admission office knows about it. Not sure what SMU looks for in tjeir applicants exactly. I tried so hard but it didn't work out for me. I do have a placing at UOL Banking & Finance already but I really wanted the SMU very badly. Despite this setback and countless rejections, I just wanna say to all who is waiting for their appeal results at this point in time- do not pin high hopes now. Get a strong backup plan and stick to it. I'll be working and studying at the same time. It'll be tough but I guess I have to be tougher. Forgo O camps cus i can't afford it but I want to believe it'll work out in the end.

Thanks haha. This rat race to pursue 'the best education' is truly draining but I'm glad that through all these efforts to secure a position, I found out what I want to do in future and that comes with a purpose. So now, although I'm disappointed, I'm glad I'm able to move on and finish up the next 3 years of university education as well as to apply what I learn in my work concurrently. :)

Hope you do well man and meet better friends/lectuers (in my case was FYP lecturer ****ed up I swear gotta watch your back with a special race prata lecturer)

What major are you interested in? Yeah, most camp registration unfortunately has closed. Union camp which is the cross faculty camp had some places open up last minute but I don't know if there's still any left. If you're interested, you can always pm me about it.

Oh yeah, you need 10 posts to be able to pm so just post around till you hit it haha. There's a whatsapp group for FASS freshies to let you get up to speed on NUS FASS matters since most of us already have done all the registration details and got our student cards.

Yeah, arts O week registration was crazy. The registration period was supposed to be 2 days but they closed it for females within one hour of registration opening since so many girls were signing up and not enough guys :s13:

Is the whatsapp group still open? Would like to join :)

Hun,you need to understand one thing. I know it is tough but sometimes life just does not go the way you want it to be. Not getting into local uni does not mean that you are not meant for uni. There are many many reasons behind it. For me,it is solely due to bad choices placed. You are meant for greater things in life, everyone is. Maybe, this experience will help you to rethink what you are truly passionate about.Learn to let go even though it is hard:)
