Erm.... cheap?! R u sure? :s8:

Supermarkets r selling the 1L dove body shampoo for like 10.90... places like swanston is selling only for like 3.90 or 4.90...

Supermarkets are a huge part of our lives and in Singapore they are so convenient to get to, plus cheap too.

NTUC is really reasonable. Not everyone live near swanston. If you add up all the costs incurred to go down and buy (taxi/parking etc), sometimes you end up paying much more unless you really buy in bulk.

Ya... but still it's wrong to say they r cheap... stores like Venus are widely available in shopping malls, neighbourhood markets and they r selling at like 7.90? Still cheaper than supermarkets.

And don't forget all those online shops... most are selling below supermarket prices and are inclusive of shipping to your door steps! =:p

I grabbed SS / Dairy Farm stocks when Amazon Prime launched here.
Also grabbed CMT when doomsayers said ‘the
end is near’ for malls.

The news was out that retail space rental has
bottomed out.

Some ‘cheaper’ products from those small shops could be parallel imports for Vietnam /
Malaysia markets but end up here.

Same quality ?

Young people don’t like wet markets & that’s understandable.

Singapore is too convenient to do actual shopping for groceries for most of us.

SS / Fairprice / Giant will survive.

takes time before amazon dominate.
last time people also say wet market good can bargain got frens tok cok sing song. but now dying trade

btw, last time SS say want to buy over wet market? now what outcome?

Their plan has been blocked by govt. Partly due to concerns over price hike of groceries due to increase in stall rental should SS revamp the wet market.

Correct.
That’s the reason.

Wet market around my place is dying with
mall ,shops & 3 Fairprice around .
SS would have the power to revive them.

Erm... what I meant was the opposite. If SS were to take over the wet market, it will die even faster? Cos their proposal is to make it into an aircon wet market right? Cost of rental so go up and prices of groceries will increase so less ppl will want to buy from that SS wet market anymore.

Even though my place has so many supermarket around, I still prefer to buy stuffs in e wet market cos it's cheaper n fresher...
