Hi guys,
After appoinment briefing am waiting for school posting.
Around when will the school posting be usually be out?
Briefing was on 14th June.
And the AOD date is 16 July.
So do we have to report to school on the 16th or will we be attending the 4.5 days briefing first?
Anyone can update me please.

based on what I went through, you will be attending the 4.5 days (ITP programme) first before reporting to your posted school on the afternoon of the last day of the ITP programme. You will have to quickly notify the P or VP of your posted school in regards to compulsory attendance of the ITP programme.

Hope this helps.

Thank you very much. Really helpful. So raughly when will we receive our school postings? Some say 2 weeks before our AOD but some in the posts say they receive it only a few days before they start.

It varies by batches. Usually, its ard 1.5-2 weeks before AOD. You can be posted anywhere as long as your travelling time to the school is about an hour.

I received a reply today that I was shortlisted for the selection interview. Was prompted to complete a form on Careers@Gov.

Any tips for those who have aced the interview previously!?!

Be prepared to write an essay response based on a given scenario. 20mins. Scenario should be school-related but will test on your values and belief.

While waiting for your turn to be interviewed, your response will be read by the 4 person interview panel.

5mins to conduct a lesson. Panel will act like students and will make things difficult. Please do your research on what to teach beforehand as you need to indicate to them.

After that, interview proper. Just be yourself and answer truthfully. They will probably ask the reasoning behind your essay and find out more about why you chose teaching. If you applied for a subject that is not your area of expertise, be prepared to be grilled, like how I was. The panel have vast experience in teaching so they will know whether you are suitable.

Hi! Wow nice! What's the level/subject you have been shortlisted for? Is that one of your choices?

Sounds like it will be one very long day.

Anyways, if selected, what exactly will you be doing during the contract teaching phase? I mean, how do you teach without being taught the skillset for it?

Subjects I'm considered for is Pri sch Eng and Science. :/

For those going for interview, what subjects are yall considered for?

Your interview will depend on how you answer the questions. My interview proper was around 30-35mins. The person before me was around 20mins. So you might want to gauge and pace yourself. Do not go too long winded in your answers though.

Contract teaching was a good experience for me. I was fortunate to have taught in sec school for quite some time before crossing over to be an EO in pri sch.

You wont be expected to have the content knowledge since you are not trained but do be ready to take full teaching load + admin + cca. You will be going back late most days and meetings are a norm. You may or many not have mentors to guide you but you will definitely be observed on your classroom management. I have seen people who did not manage to get to NIE because they lack classroom management.

Btw, Pri sch is way way way different nowadays. Please do not have the mindset that you can scream at them if they misbehave. Either you lose your voice first or a parent complaint will reach the school leaders. You need to find a balance.

Any tips for classroom management?

u mean during the interview?

the panel will act like pri sch students and will ask irrelevant questions or act like problematic students.

Just stick to your gameplan and address the problems accordingly. However, it is also important to achieve what you want to deliver during that 5 mins.
