The processor was updated to support the always-on display so you still get the same battery life regardless, but speed wise, it should be similar to that in the S4. It's not strictly the same processor in that sense.

Always-on display has nothing to do with the processor. Instead Apple is using a new LTPO display with new power management circuitry and controller to make always-on display happens without affecting battery life much.

Depends on the model. If you go apple store online and see that the shipping dates are 23rd september, most likely that there will be stocks for purchase at the store on launch day. However, we still have 7 days to go for people to make their preorders till launch day. So stocks might start to dwindle.

I find it unlikely the stocks will be unavailable for the stainless steel, titanium and ceramic models at launch day, because they are premium models and more expensive.

I know the aluminium ones have their ship dates pushed back till late september and early october when you try to put those models in the cart at the Apple online store.

You can go early at the store to snag one. Your chances are higher if you go early. The apple store will open earlier than usual on launch day, at 8am if I am not wrong.

Most of the Aluminum models will be available and only a rare few of stainless steel models are available in limited quantities based on last trends.

Apple Watch Edition like the titanium and ceramic models will be even rarer on launch day. You’ll be lucky if you managed to get one of these.

There is a highly probability people will go for the titanium model as compared to the stainless steel model this year since the price difference is not that significant as compared to the ceramic model.

I ordered the titanium version for both me and wife. LTE quite useful when I work out, so I don’t need to bring my phone along to the gym, so I don’t have to keep checking whether I left my phone somewhere or someone take it.

So means i can whatsapp wechat make phone calls without my phone? Also did u use tempered glass or case to protect your AW (if u own previous gen?)

If i get non lte version does that mean if my phone got whatsapp notification i won't be able to receive them?

Looking to buy my first AW

Well sort of. The limitation is that WhatsApp don’t have native app for watch. Need third party app which is like web app for WhatsApp. But not very ideal. Telegram is better on watch as got native app. Yes you can make phone calls without the iphone nearby, and no need headphones,

I have never used any protection for my AW since generation 1 to 4 ... No problems .. Unless you are the Super rough type.

If you want stainless steel or titanium model then you have only one choice of GPS + Cellular.

Well, if you think it's fine to spend $1K+ yearly for a Edition version. Then by all means go ahead.

Functionality wise, all material versions are same. Diff are the weight, material, look, resistance to knocks/scratches.

Those on Series 3 or earlier to the Series 5 is a good upgrade - AOD, ECG and a redesigned watch.

Those who aren’t a AW user yet, the S3 is a good model to look at, without spending huge amount of money and to try out the main/basic features on the Apple Watch - Health & Fitness and Notifications.

If you prefer the aesthetics > features of the AW, just go for the stainless steel, and the premium materials.

However, if you are looking to upgrade or change every year, the aluminium will be a better choice, unless you have the budget for premium materials every year.
