somehow if it is laid flat on the table, it will still be on. but when it is tilted, then it wouldn't

I don’t lay my watch flat on the table so the display will be off. If lying flat most probably is the similar orientation of the watch display waking up if you set tilt to wake display.

But it’s persistent, so can’t be tilt to wake that’s causing the prob right

Persistent as in always happen or the display refuses to turn off? I just tried mine and it still turns off after 15secs of inactivity (settings). If the display remains on still, better bring it back to Apple.

I got mine on 21st used daily for workout wear and change straps to steel bracelet many times. Till date 0 scratches and dents. Got photos of how bad the scratches are?
Didn’t took any photos before i return it. Maybe it was already scratched before unboxing? Shall wait till silver titanium is available in stocks again. Still prefer that compared to SBT.

persistent as in. if it is to do with tilt to wake, it should only turn on when "tilting" to wake, then after that turn off.

anyway the issue seems to be intermittent. will monitor it. when i lie it flat now. it is turned off

Yes do monitor it, especially when it’s a new device. Main thing is that once on your wrist, AOD is turned on and off your wrist, will turn off.

it seems to be the case that when it is leaning against something, i.e. with the underside in contact with something, it will be on. but when it isn't, i.e. when the underside is not in contact with something, then it will be off.

Sad to say. The Milanese loop got defect. I will need to bring it down to Apple store for exchange.
The edge of the loop near the magnet got a metal part pointing out. Due to that metal part pointing out, it keep grab onto fibre material like bedsheet pillowcase etc.

Normally only when your wrist is detected, perhaps skin, then it’ll be on. Even when you remove it and the back of the watch contacts your strap (Milanese loop in my case), it’ll still turn off.

Just want ask, does the series 3 is as good as series 4 and 5? I don’t need the ecg feature. Just casually looking at Apple watches. I don’t even use watch but I am intrigued by the Apple Watch

I think u go with the series 4 (if you can find it that is). It will be able to last you a few more software updates.

That’s definitely a defect, bring it back for a replacement.

Went to Apple store to get a replacement set (Brand New) today (Appointment booked before hand).

Seem like This batch of Milanese loop workmanship not that good. The replacement set Milanese loop edge near the Magnet was abit rough but not as bad as the 1st Milanese loop.

Possible QC issues. I’ve been using the Milanese loop since first gen Apple Watch until now and it’s flawless, in terms of QC also.

Even though now prices of straps have fallen but still no excuse for Apple to have bad QC. The Milanese loop is still quite expensive after price revision.

You bought the band together with the watch right? Did you have to return the watch as well? My sport loop has a slight defect, but read online that with this new Apple Watch Studio, got to return the whole set with the watch body just to exchange the strap.

But series 3 is similar to series 4 right? I know the updates but I just need feedback like is there like a major downside to series 3 when compared to 4 & 5? I know of the ECG which I don’t need. Haha.

Agreed. My Series 3 Milanese loop was solid and no flaw and edge feels so smooth.

Yes. Bought the band with the watch using the the Apple Watch studio to customise the band.

As I am wearing the watch with the band. Therefore I walk in with the watch and band with the boxes.

They just check my watch abit (not sure for what purpose). But only replace my band after having some discussion with their manager to allocate a new piece from the store.

Similar in some way yes. Series 4 has brighter and bigger display. Battery life is also better. Series 3 is worth it at that price point if you don’t need constant heart rate monitoring or ECG.
