it is not necessary to use toggle to watch local tv channels, there are many free 3rd party apps offering the channels.

What apps are they? If I can get Ch 5 and CNA streaming then I can drop my settop boxes and just use Singtel GO on the Shield

Just got my Nvidia Shield TV 2019 and trying to setup to get TV channels.

Tried the Dragon TV app from Shopee but it didn't work. Got any other recommendations?

wasted the shield . if you are running iptv, a cheap $30 box will produce the same result.

That’s very odd. I do not have the Shield, but since it’s Android TV OS, Dragon TV should work (or even the other multiple varied choices of IPTV).

android tv os is more picky, not many boxes are using android tv os.

most of the boxes are using modified version of handphone android or pure android.

If you referring to those "chinese" boxes, yes, i agree. Similiar to those very popular EVPad or Ubox.

But I'm referring to the Amazon Fire Stick, or Mibox (global). ... i think they can run most if not all Android apks.

not true.

most chinese boxes use pure android.

firestick uses customised pure android.

mibox(global), shield and andriod tv use android tv os.

Google yourself to find out what is android tv os, and what is pure android.

I got a Shield TV Pro 2019 off Amazon.com in December.

It's very buggy compared to my Roku / Fire TV & clearly they don't have the capability to do extensive QA testing like the competitors.

Although the CEC control works for everything else (Turn on, turn off etc.), it does not work for the volume control. I have to turn on IR mode to control the volume. It works on the other devices out of the box.

Firstly, it's not really compatible with my Samsung Smart TV like the other brands are (something wrong with the colors despite trying all the settings).

Holding the volume buttons to change volume is buggy (the increments are very slow). This is a known bug that they promised an update for months ago, but have yet to release even via their manual hotfixes.

After a while, the remote started to drain batteries like crazy (1-2 weeks for a battery change). Their troubleshooting & resets did not work.

I kinda beg to differ.
My 2017 set still works like a beast. Minus the remote haha.
I got myself a 2.4ghz remote and never really used the og remote again.

I mostly uses plex and netflix and youtube only. And the ocassional geforce gaming.

Do you know of any shops that sell this? It seems it’s out of stock from all the online retailers.

if you never check, don't make such statements.

I’m talking about the pro version. Amazon is resellers selling at mark up prices. Shoppee is on preorder. Lazada is non pro version. None in carousell. If you never check don’t make such statements. Maybe you can point me to a website that has it?
