Hello!

Wish to seek some opinions here please.

I initiated a transfer of IWDA counter from SCB to IBKR, submitted online transfer form via ibanking.

Few days later, I called in to check on the status of the transfer. To my horror, SCB said that the request of position transfer is rejected. This is because SCB does not support cross border transfer and IBKR is unable to accept inward transfer from SCB as well.

Is it true that SCB no longer allow outwards transfer?

I do not wish to sell via SCB and buy at IBKR, as the spread will be too big to stomach. Neither do I wish to transfer to another local brokerage like DBSV and transfer to IBKR, incurring 2 ways transfer fees (and unsure if i'll encounter the same story with DBSV)

Please kindly share your advice.

Thank you, appreciate your time.

@chankygigi,
U may try posting your question in the ibkr thread at money mind (mm). Maybe some of the experts there had done it before.

Ah yea! I was thinking from the SCB perspective but did not cross my mind to query from IBKR's end! Thank you Wutawa.

Could that be 30% Witholding Tax and not dividend tax as you described?

I understand that US Tax Law requires WHT for Non-US person at 30% rate on payments of US source share dividends, capital gain and whatever profitable payment you get from the shares.

Ya, there is a 30% dividend tax but I don't remember there is any tax on capital gain/return of capital though.. Hope that the SCB online trading support team can call me soon and provide a clear explanation and facilitate the 30% cash back to me *pray*

Usually how long does it take for SCB to credit Singapore stock dividends?

DBS released dividends today but I could not find it at the SGD settlement account.

If I have a stock under Standard Chartered Equity Trading.

And the stock going to offer new shares for existing shareholders to subscribe, at 5.5 cents per share.

Will we also receive the prospectus for it like the other normal brokerage for the subscription?
Or how do we go about it?

Is it a Singapore rights issue?
Scb doesn’t give any documents

in SCB online trading
at the middle on second row of the page, there is a corporate action tab next to annoucements
possible click this to apply rights?

please also have sufficient funds for rights

send a secured email to scb to request for a call back if the clicking fails
or call them directly

think you have to go search ASX for the prospectus and see if foreign shareholders are able to apply?

if you are able to subscribe, has the share gone ex-rights?

think will work only when rights can be subscribed and you as a foreign shareholder can subscribe
