How is that risking $2k? You just move start paying more commission after $4280, as you move from fixed $10.70 to 0.25% commission.

Cause you are investing more just to make the comm worth it.

Maybe you didn’t want to invest the 2k hence that’s the risk

Huh? Where does that arbitrary 2k come from? OP just asked what is the optimum amount.

Yes, and i ans that his $4k is right. Your $4280 is wrong. U can ignore the $2k if u dont understand. :)

for scb , since min is 0.25% or $10.70 whichever is higher. So the most optimum is $4k per transaction ah?

1/2 of 4k....

Fine, if you somehow got insight that he was planning to invest $2k to begin with.

I didn't check whether the commissions stated were correct, but if they are, the higher commision kicks in at $10.70/0.25% = $4280.

It isn’t insights but rather understanding the logic

..but you're not keen to share that logic? Please do enlighten me how you figured out he was planning to invest $2k to start with.

Yes. Please share the know how? Cause it is not very clear.

If you were only planning to invest $2k, but for the sake of not “losing out on commission” you go invest $4k just so that you hit the min, I.e. 10/0.25%, you are technically “risking” the $2k just to “save” $5

No one said they were planning to invest $2k.

We are talking about hypothetical no?

I asked 10 posts ago where is the arbitrary 2k coming from. The answer was to “ignore it if you don’t understand” and that “there’s a logic”. Maybe not throw random numbers out there on an investment forum without saying so.

So u r saying the optimum is $4280 instead of $4k? :s13:
