For this Jadon Sancho, I will always say - hold the verdict until he plays for us. If he comes, he is going to deprive MasonG of playing opportunities that's for sure. Because the right wing is where MasonG is going to get a shot at starting, and I actually think he's done pretty well there so far, like a right-sided ThierryH.
But it probably all comes down to marketing and publicity. For all we know, the board's (EW's) KPI is probably one super (protracted) signing per season in order to make sure the club and sponsor get on the news.
