they kena bottleneck at the bulldozer/piledriver/steamroller architecture and hanged for about a decade. then they cooperate with tiongs with some older tech transfer for tiongs in supercomputers, and got the money to move on. then they eventually came up with the zen architecture.

althou zen architecture prolly got nothing to do with tiongs, the zen1 architecture was allowed to license to tiongs. AMD prolly oso worried about tiongs copycat and come up with similar products to undercut them with the older tech transfer. so the zen architecture kept upgrading and changing socket designs to make different series incompatible, so that tiongs cant backstab them. the current zen3 ish not all compatible with previous zen1 and zen2 architecture.
