But now less chance to fly
Might as well stay on n fly few days take a month salary
Not all taking such no pay leave

they stay on the ground also will get their basic salary. you don't know how much some of these cabin crew hate the job and environment (after they joined). they'll be damn happy to get early release without any penalty!

Those trainee pilot cadet how ah? Let go also? They r on bond..

obviously trainee pilots aren't offered these schemes.

besides, there's cargo flights too. they are training for the period when the situation improves. not like they can be full-fledged pilots now also (without training).

Mean SIA also in cross road.. they can't retrench alot of them or hold on to them till bleed to death.. if flight return they need to pick up fast with enough resource..

Each plane not flying and is ground cost alot to maintain.. flying plane is not exp.. grounded plane is worst.. before resume flight need to certify for airworthiness..

That why every airline is bleeding in the world..

You can be the best cabin crew who treat first class passenger like king but SIA will not hesitate to retrench you while CEO and BOD continue to enjoy high celery

If you think about it, SIA kena ****** damn deep by the PAP government. If the PAP government don't do half measures during the first wave which was made worse by Jo Teo's utter ineptness, Singapore would have been comfortably off in many countries' flight ban list possibly as far back as june or even May.

At least, SIA would be able to reduce the damage with the outbound flights from Singapore.

As for the incoming flights, it is kinda tough as the 3 most populous countries in the world happens to have the highest risk of imported cases, namely India, China and the US.

a good thing to happen to SIA now would be like MH17 or MH370.

The airline recorded a net loss of $732.4 million in the three months to March 31, a stark reversal of the $202.6 million profit in the same period last year.

last month SIA reported $1.12bil net loss in Q2 2020.

Q1 2019 Profit $202.6MIL

Q1 2020 Loss $732.4MIL
Q2 2020 Loss $1.12BIL

So total loss for H1 2020 = $732.4M + $1.12B = $1.85Bil

we wait for Q3 and Q4 results... hope its much much worse than H1. then it will be eye-candy to see their financial statements for 2020 next year... all smeared in blood red ink!!!!

Let's all take this in perspective. Air travel,is here to stay, like it or not. How then do you expect people who have families overseas to travel? How else do you go on real overseas holidays? How do businessmen develop business relationships? Travel by sea? Train? Whom so ever stands last , stands to win big. That's the rule of the game. From what I have been seeing, SG government will do their damn-ness to keep SIA viable, operationally ready and pounce when opportunity opens.

What I don't understand is early retirement. Is that a new term of volunteer to be jobless? It's not like they are paying u until your retirement age with additional retirement lump sum. This term is so funny. Blue chip so more. The truth is they have been struggling before the covid 19. So many budget airlines yet still sell ticket price more expensive than other airlines. Behave like many of the retails shop in Singapore. These retails don't know what is internet retail like Amazon. Amazon is selling real retail recommended price. Singapore retails only know how to mark up the price. Like people are all rich. Even I went to new York, retails also selling at retail recommendee price. New york rental not high? Local retails just don't know how to market their products. No discount no nothing. All waiting for people to buy. That is why some closed down.

Even so, it would take years to recover
