Of course, it’s been available since Series 4, a couple of mths after it was launched.

Issue lies with Spotify. I assume you are referring to streaming via Spotify.
You can't do it on the Watch w/o the phone connection.

With Numbershare service activated monthly, I've subscribed also to Apple Music to overcome the limitation of Spotify.
I jog with only my watch series 3 LTE + Airpod Pro. Free from the phone.

To me, numbershare is most important.
