I am pleasantly surprised that there are Buddhist sutras that go on to support other religions

I don't expect other religions to do the same for us
but I find it heartening that Buddhism truly practices what it preaches

Om Mani Padme Hum

Merit-making and dedication of merits are taught in all branches of Buddhism. This will never change.

There's no doubt that God/deities worshipped in other religions are helping their believers. Buddhists will view that as a form of merit-making on the part of God/deities.

For example, many Taoist temples have Tang Ki (spirit medium). The believers will ask the Tang Ki for help, and the deity controlling the Tang Ki will give advice. We should not go there and recite Surangama Mantra to stop the deity from controlling the Tang Ki. We do not try to block the good deeds or ask their believers to stop believing. We can ask their believers to learn a bit more about Buddhism, and practice the precepts.

Based on the sutra below, heaven beings are always on the lookout for opportunities to accumulate more merits.

Thus have I heard. On one occasion the Exalted One was dwelling at Anathapindika's monastery, in Jeta's Grove, near Savatthi. Now when the night was far spent, a certain deity whose surpassing splendor illuminated the entire Jeta Grove, came to the presence of the Exalted One and, drawing near, respectfully saluted him and stood at one side. Standing thus, he addressed the Exalted One in verse:

"Many deities and men, yearning after good, have pondered on blessings. Pray, tell me the greatest blessing!"

Thag 2:36 Khitaka — My mind, standing like rock, doesn’t shake.

Whose mind, standing like rock,

doesn’t shake,

dispassionate for things that spark passion,

unprovoked by things that spark provocation?

When one’s mind is developed like this,

from where can there come to him

suffering & stress?

My mind, standing like rock,

doesn’t shake,

dispassionate for things that spark passion,

unprovoked by things that spark provocation.

When my mind is developed like this,

from where can there come to me

suffering & stress?

Thag 2:37 Soṇa Poṭiriyaputta — The night is for staying awake.

It’s not for sleeping,

the night garlanded

with zodiac stars.

The night, for one who knows,

is for staying awake.

If I were to fall from my elephant’s shoulder,

and a tusker trampled me,

death in battle would be better for me,

than that I, defeated,

survive.

--------------------------------

Thag 2:47 Anūpama — You, mind, I call a mind-traitor!

Coming into the conceit of delight, the mind

impales itself on a stake.

Wherever’s a stake, a chopping block,

there, only there, you turn.

You, mind, I call an unlucky die.

You, I call a mind-traitor.

You’ve gained a Teacher hard to gain.

Don’t urge me on to my loss.

Although you may understand the explanations, if you are still suffering because of problems, you clearly do not understand the true nature of your mind, your body, and your senses.

Wonderful it is to train the mind,
so swiftly moving, seizing whatever it wants.
Good is it to have a well-trained mind,* for a well-trained mind brings happiness.

Not only Surangama mantra, I believe all the mantras in Buddhism are able to stop the tangki. I remember someone shared that a Buddhist whose habit was reciting Zun Ti Mantra in his heart. One day, he participated in the event of deity's birthday parade, as usual he recited Zun Ti mantra in his heart, the person in charge of the event announced via microphone to request participants not to recite because the tangki could not go into trance. I know if anyone recites Da Bei Zhou near the tangki, the tangki also cannot go into trance. Of course we don't do that on purpose since we know. Deities are also sentient beings. We cannot harm any sentient beings.

Yes, Zunti mantra is more for wish fulfilling. Actually, the Pusa in Waterloo St is Zunti Pusa, one of the manifestation of Guan Yin Pusa but it is still ok for us to address Him as Guan Yin Pusa. Preferably one has to recite 稽首皈依 ....... this verse before reciting the Zun Ti mantra. You can search online. I'll post the verses tonight or may be some Shixiong can help. Yes, can recite after Da Bei Zhou. Da Bei Zhou is also wish fulfilling. Preferably concentrate on not more than 3 mantras.

There are a few translations of the sutra. Based on the sutra, this is one of the rare "“无问自说” sutra. That means nobody asks Buddha about it. According to the sutra, Buddha teaches ****i Mantra for the sake of human beings in the future.

Sharing the beginning part of

****i Mantra helps to eliminate karmic obstacles. Those who reach a critical mass in the recitations will have nightmares (eg 吐黑物) before having wonderful dreams.

The dreams are an indication of the level of achievements.

A simple explanation of the 准提 mantra:
南无 - take refuge 归命
飒哆喃 - seven 7
三藐三菩驮 - Buddha, Enlightened One 佛、‘无上觉者
俱胝南 - 千万
怛侄他 - The start of the mantra 即说咒曰
折隶(cale)、主隶(cale)、准提(cunde) - 觉动,起升,清净
娑婆诃 - 吉祥、圆满

Since we are on the topic of Cundi Mantra

Can I ask if the mantra is supposed to be chanted like this:

Namah Satanam, Samyaksambuddh kotinam tadyata, om cale cule cundi svaha
Namah Satanam, Samyaksambuddh kotinam tadyata, om cale cule cundi svaha
Namah Satanam, Samyaksambuddh kotinam tadyata, om cale cule cundi svaha

Namah Satanam, Samyaksambuddh kotinam tadyata, om cale cule cundi svaha
Namah Satanam, Samyaksambuddh kotinam tadyata, om cale cule cundi svaha

or should it be chanted like:

om cale cule cundi svaha
om cale cule cundi svaha
om cale cule cundi svaha
om cale cule cundi svaha

Both ways also can.

Namah Satanam, Samyaksambuddh kotinam tadyata - means to take refuge in 70 million Buddhas.
"om cale cule cundi svaha" is the core or the actual (心咒) mantra.

心咒 meaning the core of the mantra.

to get the benefits of the mantra (the bad dreams to signify elimination of bad karma), chant 心咒 only is enough??

cause to be honest the (first version) long version damn hard to hit 700,000 times.

if just 心咒 maybe can hit

i gave up on cundi cause I thought die die have to be long version

Based on the sutra, quantity matters.

However, to be really effective, you have to reach a state whereby consciously or unconsciously you are reciting the mantra. It's not a matter of reciting long or short version.

Just a suggestion. Keep playing the mantra over and over, until a time when you switch it off, you still hear the mantra. Try to recite silently in your heart when you are doing something else, eg jogging/running, taking shower, having lunch, waiting for lift, taking public transport etc.

Experience of laypersons reciting Zhunti Mantra and experiences the effect. The third video, this guy relates how he recites about 10,000 times a day on top of daily activities.
