Hi, anyone know for m1 broadband on-site installation, there are how many appointments that the installer will go to your house? I received 2 schedules for Terminal Point Installation Appointment and ONT Installation Appointment on different dates.

Speed tested several times and as I still have v my SH line, I can compare - DL for M1 around 200-300Mbps, whereas SH can get up to 500Mbps. Using HP less than 1m from the free AX55.

Also compared 4K video streaming by switching between M1 and SH, the video can fail to load or stutter when on M1.
which M1 plan are you on ?

Can I upgrade my Huawei echolife HG8240H modem with a better model and just plug and play or does it need to be recognized by M1?

You cant replace the HG8240H. Only can use M1 issue ONT. Any issue with HG8240H please reach out to M1 support for help.

1 Gbps

I have this SERVFAIL too.

Anyway, my internet speed looks normal now. Really strange as I didn't do anything.

The Hostname: SERVFAIL just means M1 haven't set reverse DNS for the IPv6 addresses, and is very typical for a home connection especially if you have a dynamic rather than static address allocation.

Reverse DNS is only used for a small fraction of things (running an email server, IRC etc) so very few providers will ever bother configuring it. There's often no reverse dns for IPv4 too, and if there is it's usually still there from having been set years ago when things like IRC were more popular.

I don't think any of the providers here will give you reverse dns control unless you have a business service (running your own email server being the use case). You can control your own reverse dns if you use the free he.net tunnelbroker, and many VPS providers will let you set reverse dns etc.

If you get ICMP: Filtered that means your system is not responding to ICMPv6, either your router or host is blocking it. This is not necessarily a problem, the site tests ICMPv6 echo which isn't strictly needed, what you do need are other ICMPv6 types otherwise things like path mtu discovery might not work. Off the top of my head i can't think of a good way to test this.

Terminal point installation or activation?
If you don't already have a terminal point, someone from NLT will come to physically install it, otherwise they will just enable your port at the exchange and assign it to M1.

ONT installation they will send a guy with an ONT who basically just plugs it in. Honestly i'm not sure why they send a guy vs just giving you the equipment to plug in and turn on yourself, but that seems to be the way it's done here for whatever reason.
Generally these guys will do the bare minimum to get it running and then leave, you might want to press them to ensure things are set up well - eg good wifi channel selection, make sure ipv6 is enabled and working etc.

You want an access point rather than a full router, assuming you want to use it in addition to whatever existing router you have covering other areas of the house. An access point should be cheaper, as it will just bridge over ethernet to your main router rather than performing any routing or firewall functions on its own as you'd have no need for such functionality.

In theory any access point would do, although depending what your main router is you might gain some benefits from using a model from the same brand (eg transparent roaming if you move an active client from one room to another).

The unifi stuff is good, a u6-lite can be had for $165 but these generally work well with an existing unifi setup. If you know what your existing router is it will be easier to advise on the most appropriate device to use.

You should determine if you need to run any bandwidth intensive work when you are in your bedroom. In my opinion, you don't need an expensive router/AP for room since you just need coverage within the room. And because its mainly used by yourself and spouse in the room, the number of connections each time is not going to be high as well. So even a simple router below 100 bucks and configured as an AP should do the trick.

If you have a old router at home. You can just use it as an AP.

Otherwise just get a basic router should do. If you not looking into cover main bedroom only

Anyone can advise how to signup with M1 broadband?
The "sign up for a new line" button doesn't work for me. (link, www.m1.com.sg/EShop/Fbb/Plans?planId=2-13-FBBPKG206390)
The "switch to m1 fibre" page, after fill in the details but nobody call me back yet after 2 working days. (link www.m1.com.sg/registerinterestfordevice/fbb-roi-switch) No field to input email, so they must be calling me? seems not very efficient.
The online chat then "Chat with agent" option will put me into a queue, but after queue number slowly decreasing and finally to 0, the chat immediately disconnects saying no agent is currently available. Great chat system that need a queue to inform customer that no agent is available.
The hotline "1627", long wait time and the voice during waiting is too annoying. Plus I cannot confirm if there is actually a person answering or not.

Seeing that maybe only the most determined people can signup with M1, probably this will guarantee the network quality of their broadband plans. Please advice, thank you.

I am talking to the M1 Chat via the website, they are saying that the Router replacement program is only m1 issued routers.

I just call M1 hotline, CSO told me the Router replacement program is only for 1gbps, not for 500mbps. Is this true?

Anybody who re connect m1 500mbps recently can confirm this?

If there is an M1 outlet near you, I suggest you go down to sign up. Call me old school, but most of these sign up online feature is very bad. I got the worst from Singtel when trying to sign up for a service on both online and also their WhatsApp chat.

Ya .. I think you are very right, I managed to open the signup page from my phone's browser, however, now I'm stuck at "choosing a fixed voice number" where there's no option for me to choose from.

Just go down to M1 shop and settle everything on the spot. I went down on weekday at Nex , in and out in 15mins. Depending on the crowd though..

Otherwise, just call 1627, and place the call on speaker mode.. long wait, but eventually u'll get to speak to someone and settle the reconstruct, questions etc..

I managed to install my new router CT8 on the phone with tech support guiding me thru. No issues at all.

Yes, I'd definitely go to the M1 shop to ask for assistance if no COVID19. I tried their signup page yet again, passed the number selection by selecting a $88 number which I don't even need(free fixed voice service without free number selection, good job!), then blocked by an "delivery method" which only has "self collect at M1 outlet" option. If I choose self collect, I can only collect from 3 outlets which are all far from me. This is so weird, someone from M1 need to do the ONT installation for me after I signup right? why need me to self collect?
So I finally gave up and went to myrepublic signup page. 10min all done no issues.
