The current rate for fixed 24 mth is the same as yrs rate in sept.See photo.
DOT is good only if oil price is declining or stable whereas fixed is hitch against rising oil prices.
Just now I saw Tuas power listing price as 24.4 then after I do check with you and others, the website revert back to 22.5. :o

I am puzzle why do I see the price plan of 24.4 then? :o

Maybe its a hint that they are adjusting it soon? :o

I wonder what is the logic behind this? Maybe the logic is that the SP Services regular tariff wont be increased proportionate to the rise in costs, inorder to save consumers from getting hit, so this means in future SPWS tariffs are going to increase beyond SP services regular tariff and OEMs are just saving their margins by reducing the DOT %.

sp tariff is a function of oil price (`70%) + fixed running costs (reviewed annually).

spws is a function of (electricity generation capacity vs demand) & oil price. based on the divergence seen since 2012, it appears that the (capacity vs demand) factor has a much greater influence on spws than oil price.

maybe the retailers are expecting convergence of the gap between sp tariff & spws, but they still have their margins protected at their reduced discounted % rate. their fixed rates probably already priced in a fat margin previously.

can roughly see the gap below :

Finally submitted to move over to GENECO 1 year fixed plan from SPWS. After $45 rebate, it comes to the same rate as September SPWS rate+3.1% tariff increase. At least don't need to worry about the spike.. I have a weak heart.. Hahaha.

Government should really investigate whether the gencos are forming a cartel and taking turns to reduce supply and having sudden unscheduled maintenance... and driving up wholesale price.

Gencos huatsAHHH! Us peasants gonna eat peanuts after getting a shock on our bills.

No bill shock if you are on a fixed plan
