I bought the AX3 Pro because of the $58. I was previously using ZenWifi Mini AX, now waiting for the Huawei one to arrive. Hope it’s good!

Zenwifi XD4 should not be bad if you can use Ethernet backhaul. I do not like it due to the fact that it has only two LAN ports. But actually you can buy one RT-AX56U to act as the main router and then Zenwifi XD4 as AImesh node.

Are you going to use Ethernet backhaul or wireless backhaul?

Because there is a change of router you need to call M1 (via phone automation or speak to Support engineer) to reset your fiber profile.

Call 1627
Select 2 (BB svc)
Select 2 (Tech Assistant)
Select 5 (unable to connect to internet)
Select 1 (Network reset)
Enter your M1 account number (need your M1 bill)
Enter a mobile number (SMS u once it done)

Now try connect your Router and u new router should get a internet connection.
just used exactly these steps shared by magix to self request a refresh of WAN IP and it was done in about 30mins. thanks again for sharing 🙏🏼

Does the local quadcore AX3 support AP mode?

Are all the features available in web GUI without having to install app on phone?

1) Yes
2) Basic features are available in the web UI without using the app. But the app offers some other features. You do not really need to use the app to get the router up and running, if you do not want to install the mobile app.

Thanks. How about turning off the LED and scheduling reboot, need the app for that?

The reason I'm asking is because the Xiaomi AX3600 required the app for those extra functions.

Just wondering what is the concern of installing the mobile app? For the China version of AX3 Pro, it is rather troublesome and you may not really be able to use it (need to use a Huawei China account, some say have workaround). But for Global version, it should not be so difficult to install the Huawei AILife app to control the global version of Huawei AX3 Quad Core version.

I have the China version of AX3 Pro (Quad Core version) but the global version should be similar. I do not use the mobile app myself since I actually run my Huawei AX3 Pro in AP mode, not in router mode.

Schedule wifi off time -- yes for the web UI
Schedule reboot of the router -- only in the mobile app
Status LED ON/OFF -- only in the mobile app
SpeedTest -- only in the mobile app
Mobile app specific firewal and parent control function -- only in mobile app

It is the same for Huawei and Xiaomi that the Web UI has less function and the mobile app has more functions.

But for Xiaomi AX3600, you can enable SSH to gain more functions not available in the web UI and the mobile app. It is not possible to gain SSH access to Huawei AX3 Pro router.

But then at S$58, you can not complain about the Huawei.

Thanks, I guess both Huawei and Xiaomi engaged the same developer for their router firmware and app, that's why they both work the same way.

That may well be the case but I do not have the source to confirm.

It is said the lower level firmware may be different due to the use of different SOC and SDK, but then the application FW, the web UI and the mobile app may well be from the same third party developer.

With the new China version of Huawei AX3 Pro (WS-7206) using the Qualcomm SOC, even the low level may be similar already.

Hi, I plan to get 2 of these to form a mesh network. So I can connect them just by using the 'H' button?

Yes that is one way. You can also use the mobile app.
https://consumer.huawei.com/en/routers/hilink-mesh/
But take note that this is a dual band WiFi 6 router, so the best is to use Ethernet backhaul if possible.

If you are going to use wireless backhaul, the performance may not be great for the mesh node. Make sure you have good connection between the mesh node and the main node, the best is to have line of sight.

Interesting that Huawei AX3 Quad Core version Global version is now out of stock at the official Huawei Lazada/Shopee shop. It was selling at S$56 before voucher.

Previously it was selling at S$58.

Is it a must to do this whenever I change router or only when I'm not getting a connection after changing router?

I'm with M1 and will be getting a ax86u.

Yes as long as there is a router changed router.

If you know how to clone your old router Mac address onto the new router (some router don't support Mac address clone) than no need call m1.
