Actually how long does it take for WHO or MOH to determine severity of Omicron ah? I'm reading reports that Omicron symptoms are mild... so why cant we treat it like the other Covid variants - do the Step 1-2-3 protocol.

Reports on this have been mixed. On one hand, I keep reading symptoms are mild, on the other hand the measures are v strict on Omicron. PL matches are also being postponed.

Am I the only one who is confused on how to react to the current Covid situation?

Isn't customer facing like airborne transmission?

It is not customer kissing where there is contact.
Customer-facing implies close contact, which means aerosol blast area (8 metres, but MOH only considers 1-2 metres). The fact that this worker was not customer-facing means that the MOH method of close contacts is pointless.

The local case, identified as Case 279330, is a 54-year-old man who works as a loading cabin assistant at Changi Airport Terminal 3. He had no contact with flight passengers.

“He was tested for COVID-19 on Dec 14 as part of rostered routine testing, and his polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test result came back positive for COVID-19 infection,” MOH said.

“He had been placed on a daily antigen rapid testing (ART) regime since Dec 10, and his test results up to Dec 13 were all negative.”

The imported case, identified as Case 278256, is a 36-year-old man who travelled to Singapore via the vaccinated travel lane with the United States.

“His pre-departure test in the US on Dec 6 was negative for COVID-19 infection, as was his on-arrival PCR test on Dec 8,” MOH said.

“However, he tested positive for COVID-19 infection for his supervised ART on Dec 10, and his PCR test result also came back positive on Dec 11.”

The third new case reported on Wednesday, known as Case 279395, is the wife of Case 278256. The 34-year-old woman had no recent travel history.

“She was placed on quarantine on Dec 14 as she had been identified as a close contact of Case 278256, and tested positive for COVID-19 infection on the same day. Prior to that, she was working from home,” MOH said.

Just like 2021 again. Delta caused a havoc. Now Omicron. Before CNY, restrictions again. They were also betting on vaccination. Now it’s booster shot. Let’s see. :s13:
I won't be suprised if CNY carry on as usual cos hospitalisation, ICU and death rate still low, but by the time reach Hari Raya, those 3 will be overwhelmed again and the numbers higher than Delta ever was at its peak here. Only then, they will tighten restrictions again.

Seem like took 3 days from pcr positive to determine is omicron?? from 11th test positive.. till 14th then spouse need to quarantine.. the protocol seem a bit slack to me.
with no mandatory SHN for incoming visitors, they are allowing it to spread to community
