Youtrip (Pay overseas with no fees) DO NOT ask or post referral

You have the same thinking as I when I first know of this YouTrip. While the rates can be competitive, usually after holiday you sure got some leftover and those cannot be transferred out. That means in overseas last day you need to think how to spend close to the last cents which is stressful at least for me although I seldom travel.

Well, u don’t do the last tour of your life right?
To me, it’s no too much diff from trust.
But if your life is around trust (which I am not), then trust might be a better option.

some ppl don't like to have leftover dollars/cents must use finish mindset, wch is undue stress put by yourself. there's more impt things to stress/worry in life

as opposed to not requiring to plan with Trust. Since you can just withdraw the balance without having to constantly calcuate and track your expenditure with youtrip

There are still paynow, normal credit card but not Amex. Just that no more other benefit with all the new exclusion.

How is the $5 or equivalent fee deducted for overseas cash withdrawal? Example, wanted to withdraw 100k yen.

i. Is it default SGD and if dont have SGD in the card
ii. they deduct from the S$5 equivalent in JPY (i.e. 100,500) get reduced in the youtrip account or
iii. Deduct from the cash you withdrawl (i.e. around JPY 99,500 withdraw instead)

Easiest way to use excess cash in the card should be to pay sp services bill (partial payment).

I only transfer SGD to my YouTrip just b4 paying at the cashier. The money will be get in by 1 to 2 min max. Say a EUR10 grocery, I just do a quick xe check, then transfer that amount with a small buffer to YT. Then pay. No excessive left over after the trip.

Because YEN no money so they charged the $5 fee to my SGD!

Based on my experience, the default wallet currency used in YEN. If the available balance is insufficient(YEN wallet), then it will be Singapore Dollars(SGD wallet).

However, there are some credit card machines in Japan that offer the option to choose the currency in which the transaction will be made. The cashier will provide the choice between SGD and Yen, so it's important to pay attention to this.

if u have 20,500 yen and u took out 20,000 yen, then then the remaining 500 yen will be charged as fees, assuming 100 yen = $1 at that time.

I'm aware that there is a fee for using the services, and I completely agree with that. I just wanted to share that if your YEN wallet doesn't have enough money to cover the fee, they will charge your SGD wallet instead. So, it's important to make sure you have enough funds in either your YEN or SGD wallet to avoid any issues with the fee for ATM withdraw.
