I remember how my auntie scolded her son:

When young, we send you to school, pay for everything and you don't study hard. Keep playing computer games and handphone games.

Now you kpkb about paying and studying part-time for degree while working.
When we tell you to study hard, you couldn't be bothered.
Now have to work during the day, and study at night and do homework during weekends.

This is called "Karma"! And I hope that my grandchildren learn from your mistakes!

Determined then can study already? You only studied Mass Comm in Poly. Can go and study Economics, Accountancy, Statistics or Engineering at degree? No foundation in all these is only looking to commit suicide.

Speaking from experience, I studied Arts (zero Math) at A level. Went to study a degree with Statistics and Math. Failed miserably at the first year and quit. Cannot means cannot. How to work hard? Maybe can. Another 5 years to get a lousy degree. You want?
Determination to study means putting in the effort and time, etc to do so. It has nothing to do with your intellectual level and calibre for a particular subject.

You got see which uni they dropped out from?

They dropped out is because uni was too easy for them, not because it’s too difficult. They dropped out because if they didn’t, someone else would be faster than them and be the history makers and earn the big money instead of them.

From my experience... Can.. My math was not good.. When I enter poly after NS. First week, I told my mum I cannot make it.. I realised ITE was really slow compared to poly.

Then I ask my classmate which was 6 younger than me to tuition me.

Then I go for night class and sit at the back of the lecture hall to make sure I have double the time on E math. Exam, most questions I cannot complete, marks based on steps... Yes poor result but managed to pass..

Degree I choose the one without math and associated with my career.. Got one module, got a simple math... I told my frd... Why I press the calculator 3 times... 3 different results and, which is right?

My kids... P2 math... I cannot teach alr... Hahahahh lucky my wife good in math... If not have to go tuition..

I part-time all the way to PhD. Local uni.

I worked 7 days a week for years. Very tough and very poor.

Thanks to the discrimination from my own government, I now have a strong character that is unaffected by anything.

Someone can suicide in front of me and I will think it is a small matter, just need to find someone to clean up.

TS, jiayou. You will turn out strong.

My late dad told me that... Now you using your own money... So I told my kids... I make very easy to surpass me.. But it doesn't mean you can overtake me..

I showed them my primary school results... More red than blue and I told them coz teacher ran out of ink... They believed until upper primary..

I’ve been through that phrase. From 2012 to 2014 I was working full time and part time degree at night.
Basically the only time you have for yourself is that 1 hr or so before bedtime. Weekday after work is go school or go home study/do assignment. Weekend also practically is used for chionging assignments to be hand in next week.

sometimes I even use my small phone to write my thesis during communting and toilet breaks or lunch time.

let me give u some tots..
the return of investment for ur time, effort, $ for a master is not worth it in sg.
most of e time if u intend to be employee, people just ask u for degree only.
having a master will not give u any advantage or make u a better person.
life is so short already and u waste 10 over years schooling.
it is more then wasting time a few years cramping in useless info just for a pc of paper.

Let me give you some encouragement.

I did my bachelors around 2007 p/t in NUS. 3 1/2 years.

I'm now doing my masters in NUS. Graduating 2024.

I know there are some who did part time Degree through SUSS (Used to call SIM Uni in the past).
Recent talks about Degree, just remind me what I had to go through during my PT Diploma.
Day time work, night time class and weekend burn either projects or assignment.

For three years literally no life but what to do so cuz at that time most employers require
at least a Diploma to apply for a proper job. So I took a PT Diploma under Ngee Ann Polytechnic CET Academy.
The only time I can rest or take a break was during semester break than can breathe or go out.

For years I put the thought of pursuing Degree behind, not only because of the cost.
I don't want to go through the torture again just because employer require a Degree so I must do it?
Even those who study full time Degree whether at NTU or NUS is also a torture.

Employer say need Degree is very easy and is like ask for a plate of chicken rice.
But than how much effort, skills and endurance require to just cook and prepare that plate of chicken rice
which they won't appreciate it.

I won't forget after graduation yet some employers tell me they require Degree which repeat what I went through before I got a Diploma. :s22: To me studying must be up to one's ability and interest, it cannot be
because employers require it than you must go study.
That means you are not hungry enough to work for higher pay lor

My auntie said,

"Don't compare yourself with Mark Zuckerberg or Steve Jobs or Yeoh En Lai.

When you reach their status, then may be I will kowtow to you if you pay me enough money!"

Tell you the Tanglin Club secret:

Don't really need the degree, just need people to believe that you have that degree!

But the trick is to keep the people believing that you have that degree.
