I want to add an access point. Should i connect to singtel ONR or singtel router?

Singtel ONR is the main router (without wireless function). I think by Singtel Router you mean the wireless router issued by Singtel (eg: Singtel AC Plus, Singtel Mesh Router, etc). They will run in AP mode.

In this case, your new access point can connect to either option.

1) Connect to Singtel ONR

Singtel ONR -- existing Singtel wireless router (they will run in AP mode)
Singtel ONR -- new wireless access point

2) Connect to Singtel wireless router
Singtel ONR -- existing Singtel wireless router (they will run in AP mode) -- new wireless access point

connect to the router /w DHCP else how you get issued internal IP address?

Just FYI, in the case of Singtel ONR, it is the main router without wireless function. As of now, only Singtel is issuing ONR to new users exclusively since 2018 for its Fibre Internet plans (existing 500Mbps/1Gbps customers may keep their ONT). They stopped to entertain new bridging request (for 500/1Gbps customers) since March 2022. Only with 1+1 Gbps gamer bundle, one of the ONR ports is bridged.

Whizcomms also issues ONR to customers but you can request to bridge the ONR.

VQ will also offer ONR to 2Gbps customers which can not be bridged. VQ may issue ONR to other customers (500Mbps, 1Gbps) but it is said that you can ask VQ to bridge the ONR.

Starhub is also issuing ONR for its 10Gbps trial plan.

Down the road, maybe ONR will be more common place with 2.5Gbps and 10Gbps plan, which can be a problem for those who would like to use their own router as the main router, if the ISP does not want to entertain bridging request.

Either way is workable, if you want a simple to manage network, then getting a mesh would be more convenient

Where shld I put the routers or mesh nodes?
If the patch panel is on the db box, you can either have the mesh main in it linked to all the data points. 1 in living room and MBR should be good enough.

If you only want to use 2 x mesh, it's a little bit more complicated. From DB box link to living room mesh main, return to db box via the other data point. You can then link to the MBR and place your 2nd unit there.

Can. But you have to setup your mesh in access point mode.

Can. But you have to setup both in access point mode.
ok,but after consideration I think it will be quite difficult to set up as need to connect from Db to living room 1 and return from living room 2 back to db.The distance from lv 1 and lv 2 is quite far.

I am now considering whether on the combination of 1 routers + 2 mesh nodes or all 3 mesh nodes. Will it be any big difference between the 2?
based on the layout of the flat and the existing wirings, it is better to use 1 router (w/o wiress) at db. one mesh in living room, one at mbr

I shifted house recently and now, my router, switches and NAS are housed within the DB box.

Not my ideal location with all the heat built up inside the DB box. I consider placing a USB fan inside but I don't think it is going to help much with all the built up heat and poor air circulation. Leaving the DB box door ajar is not an option too.

Hence, checking in with you guys on how to manage the built up heat? Any issue with over heating?
