Everyone will say therapy but Personally keep self busy and do things which you won’t normally do…
don’t dwell and throw a pity party for yourself - it’s easy to do that and get lost in negative thoughts.

i agree … keep busy learning new skills / exploring new hobbies, help someone, get involved in your local community, rear a pet (but please don’t abandon it halfway), read a new book, visit a random new place, try to create something (bake a cake / paint an art piece / write a short story / build an app … the list goes on) and who knows who you will meet along the way or what new abilities you will discover you have!

I learnt to start doing this and realised that i’m really a lot happier these days!

Will usually hang out with close friends, share my problems and seek their advice or just simply to rant..

A technique I used long long time ago, it’s called green and red bottles. Prepare two big bottles/containers, one label as red, the other as green.

notice what is arising in your mind that made your depress and wait to see if the result is what you thought. If it’s not, drop a pebble/coin/goli to the green. If it’s, drop it to the red container / bottles.

keep accumulating until your container is full and see whether there is more green or more red.

as you finished this exercise, you will draw a conclusion on what you depress with in terms of their reliability. You will probably notice majority of the noise is but an empty threats, not worth paying attention to. But whether it’s as I described, you will need to go through the exercise yourself to see it for yourself as to convince your mind that’s exactly the case.

note: when it’s full, clear the bottles / containers and repeat again until you are fully satisfied with your experiment.

if you are fully satisfied with the experiment above, you can go further by learning how to meditate and find the truth of your thoughts, feelings, perceptions. Learning to observe them, test them to see if you can control them. E.g. stop these negative thoughts, emotions. Think only happy thoughts for 1 hour Or sad thoughts for 1 hour or 24 hours. See if you could control all these thoughts you called it yours. Observe what preceded these thoughts over and over again like you were playing a game whether you are sitting, standing, walking or lying down.

As you keep practicing in this way, you will gain insight into these things and these insights will reduce or bring you out of these misery fully.

Find distractions. It is what we all do. Immerse yourself in some tv show, hobby, games, work or some other form of addiction. Try not to do anything illegal though.

the way our lives are.. Depression is almost a certainty. Instead of fighting it, let’s live with it!

Last time work very tiring mah so I just drink beer or pcc. After awhile I realized it's really boliao. Now I just try and forget about it and take it like a man lor

Depress .....lol

If you are not forced into a corner with no other way out like some terminal illness. Don't tell me u depress.

It's all in your mind. I got into a corner before, tipping point in life. I refused to give up. I told myself i don't believe i can't survive. Somehow things iron out itself.

Remember you are not in some 3rd world or some war whacked country. There are millions of people in worse/ dire state than you. Singapore is an easy place.

You just need some avenue to release the pressure. Exercise, religion n even seek comfort in EDMW also can.

I also cannot understand how depression comes about. Is it due to some event, overthinking or just came like that like fever. Some say is a kind of illness like fever, can't stop it from coming.
In Singapore's context, depression usually caused by the toxic workplace

Once you quit the job, no more depression
