Day 2

I left Tokyo and made my way up to the prefecture in the Tohoku, Aomori prefecture.

Summer is the only season that I have not visited Japan. And I always wanted to visit Tohoku for their summer festival and fireworks, but the weather/temperature in Summer deters me from visiting.

So now, I will be visiting the museum that gives visitors a taste of its lively atmosphere, history and traditions of the Nebuta Matsuri (festival).

Quite an unique façade for the building.

There is a part of the museum which displays the top lantern floats that were built for past festivals (starting from Year 1962.

Staff playing the festival music, you can unmute for the audio in this pic.

Also, the staff will teach the visitors how to perform the festival dance and the crowd can dance together, but I paiseh to dance :o

Besides the festival dance, visitor also get to try out the festival instruments used in the above clip.

Day 2 (cont)

After lunch, I went to check out this place to see what's inside.

There were several eateries and shops inside selling local products. Aomori is famous for its apples, so you can expect many local products or food items to be made from apples.

Beside the A-Factory, there is this ferry museum that you can visit. Ferries were used as the mode of transport to get to Hokkaido before the building of the railway tunnel. My previous job has allowed me to get on board many ships, so I decided to skip it.

Further down, there is this monument facing the Hakodate port in Hokkaido prefecture.

Looks like you had a great trip! I was in Japan this summer and it was particularly warm and humid due to El Nino, even in places like Hokkaido.

Do you speak Japanese by the way?

Cannot speak Japanese, only know how to say Thank You, Sorry and Hello in Japanese.

A lot of the hikers that I passed by them, they would greet konnichiwa. Did it happened to you as well?
