My Net worth based on my Google sheets is $2,231,905.64.

probably can add another 150k from last night's rally from meta and some increase on NVDA.

I'm not working at the moment and quit my job (12k+ monthly salary) since the end of 2022 (worked in ICBC).

41 this year single with a condo.

I'm quite satisfied with what I've gotten seeing I have no degree and has been a slacker all my life. I lucked out when during my first job as an office temp in Deutsch bank and that builts up my CV such that I will always have jobs from banks being offered to me and bank still paid pretty well relative to other industries.

lucked out again when I opened a brokerage acct with poems as my ex-colleague was a new broker there then and asked me to support him. So I opened am account and randomly looked at my room to see the things I had that I can buy its shares for. Since I'm a PC gamer then with a GeForce card, I just randomly bought about 12k worth of NVDA shares then without much thought and barely monitors it and....you guys knew the story of how NVDA flew to the moon since last year. I also bought some Meta shares then during its IPO just as a token so that I can tell people that I am a Facebook shareholder (back when being in fb is still cool) and also didn't monitor it and just held them through the years...and you guys also knew of meta stocks since last night.

so I practiced very stringent book keeping for all my finance that's the reason I am very comfortable with just quiting and not having any income at all because my current cash on hand can last me at least a decade before I need to draw any money from my portfolio.

so that's My story....and a pretty boring uninspiring one.

It is an incredible story, if it is true.

I'm training for Boston Marathon this coming April.

And I am planning to write a novel. Daily routine basically a lot of training and just videogames and documentaries.
good that you are still very much physically active. how about social life?

does it feel strange to be "retired" when your friends are still working?

I have 'some' occasionally but I am an introvert by nature so social events are not my forte.....the covid lockdown years are my favorite years IMO.

As for retirement so early......not really. I've been thinking of early retirement since I was a teenager. As I said, I am a slacker and everyone knew me as a slacker and me retiring early is not really surprising to anyone that knows me...just that the act that I can do it this early is surprising to them as it is to me. I never expect I can afford a condo or retire early too but it is what it is.

Net worth is less mortgage.

If u want to be specific without consider the value of my property, then it's probably 1.8m then. I only got my condo at 34.

Not working part time....I don't want to work for money anymore and I don't want to pay income tax 😂

Another guy said he wished to get retrenched so that he can finally FIRE lol
Anyone project plan changes say swan event like retrenchment hit you direct? For my IT sector a lot of big tech letting go. In my own workplace employer taken out my team mates but I then need take over so do 2,3 ppl job scope.

Read news banks starting retrench. A look at LinkedIn typically most IT roles retrenched folks plenty. Duestche Bank, Google, Meta etc you name it all there
I have been waiting for my first retrenchment but no luck...probably have to retire on my own. I have worked on my current job for 23 years...I guess if one don't get layoff between 15 and 20 years, he can work till retire on your own..

For a single, the 2M isn't really great because of how much prices have risen for everything. If you rewind time to your twenties, this 2M is actually worth only 1M in purchasing power when you were in your twenties.

10M probably the point at which i will consider comfortable for today. Because that is the point at which you can spend and enough left over to pay for your lover if you wish to have one (or two).

What i think 2M will be enough to buy you is time, knowledge, and also door to better opportunities. Also buy what you need to maintain good health till old age.

10m for 1 pax or family? 1 pax seems overkill

If you read what i elaborated on, 10M is needed to pay for options/choices. One of the options will be starting a family with kids without having to worry about finding a job.

2M needs a fine balancing act, and the room for error or drawdowns in portfolio is small.

Keep it that way and you should retire comfortably. The moment you get married and have kids will destroy that equation very fast. You will find whatever you have not enough for your ownself. Keep it up.

Shares around 1m+USD. Meaning your cash on hand around 400-500ksgd. Haven't include CPF yet right? Cool!
