Thank you to all who provided advice for my first DIY PC, providing tips on parts and price. Managed to assemble it myself by following @KleoZy's YouTube videos. They were a great help especially your method of applying thermal paste.

Was a fun experience building apart for the point where I used the wrong screws to mount the MOBO.

Specs:
CPU + MOBO: 7500F + MSI Pro B650M-A WIFI
RAM: Adata XPG Lancer 6000 MHz 32GB
CPU Cooler: Thermalright PA120 SE
GPU: PowerColour 7800XT Fighter
Storage: WD Black SN850X 2TB
PSU: XPG Core Reactor 750W 80+ Gold
Case: CM NR400 (w/o ODD)
Additional Case Fans: 3 x Artic P12 120mm
Cost: $1.7k+

Does anyone know where to RMA Toshiba's N300 HDDs? Do they also cover HDDs bought from Amazon.sg?

both are excellent cards for the money if not concerned with raytracing. the gre is more attractive if ur willing to tinker a little bit, as overclocking (especially boosting the gimped memory speeds) does help it catch the $1.2k+ 4070tiS. at stock performance, the gre generally matches the 4070super ($1k+) and at these prices, the gre is technically the better value part as it offers ~10% more performance for 7% more money, but the challenger model is fairly lacklustre imo as it is only a dual fan compared to the triple fan fighter which means it may run hotter and louder, and isnt even a clean design. the 7800xt is also a decent value option, straddling the 4070 ($800+) and super while offering more vram and costing less than either of them.

Hi guys, I'm planning to upgrade my almost 10 yr old pc. Using it on 2 screens, 1 for gaming on a 27" led monitor and the other 1 for Netflix etc on a 40" TV. Budget around 1.5k can go higher for future proofing. Hoping to play games with good fps. Appreciate if the experts here can advise me on a build. I'm thinking of getting from aftershock. Pls advice and thanks in advance!

Current PC specs
CPU: Intel core i5-4460
MB: MSI H97 gaming
Graphic card: MSI GeForce 970 GTX 4gb Twin Frozr V
Memory: Kingston HyperX Fury 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
Chassis: Fractal Design R5 Titanium Window
Power supply: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W 80 Plus Gold
LG DVD Drive

since u prefer prebuilt, and they are actually cheaper nowadays, u can look at invaderpc. right now they are offering a 7500f + 7800xt build for right around 1.5k (similar to the ~1.8k enthusiast reco on the first page), which should be quite futureproof with the 7800xt's 16gb of vram, and u can choose to upgrade the ram to a 32gb kit if u want. it is also powerful enough to drive 60+ fps in most modern games at 4k, which means u should be able to game even on ur tv just fine.

Hi, im wondering if it is worth it to DIY or just buy from aftershock.

Suprise that the aftershock build price is so close to DIY for similar specification. I trust some of the brand in the DIY build more, but buying from aftershock is obviously much more convenient.

Aftershock
Aftershock Glacier Mirror 240mm
Lexar NQ790 Gen4 SSD (R7000|W6000) 1TB
ASROCK B550M WIFI SE + Ryzen 5600
32GB Lexar Ares RGB DDR4 3600Mhz (16x2)
650W FSP Hv Pro 85+ Bronze
Zotac RTX 4060 Twin Edge OC 8GB
Aftershock Rapid 2023

Total: $1,180

DIY
(mostly from Dynacore price list)
CM ML 240L Core ARGB Black $75
WD Blue SN570 NVME M.2 SSD 1TB $95
ASROCK B550M ITX/AC ITX + Ryzen 5600 $ 384
KINGSTON FURY BEAST RGB 3600MHz CL17/CL18 32 GB $116
Seasonic CORE GM-550 $80
PowerColor Amd Radeon Fighter RX 7600 8GB GDDR6 $409
Montech Air 100 ARGB Black $88

Total: $1,247

i would still prefer invaderpc. the mobo is better, the ram is faster, the silverstone psu is 80+ gold and at least known to be decent vs an unknown thermalright bronze unit, and u get full distro warranty vs a blanket 3y warranty (some parts like ram, ssd and psu have ≥5y).
im wondering if it is worth it to DIY or just buy from aftershock.
nowadays prebuilds can be very competitively priced. but ur diy build can be optimised further; u can reference the midrange reco on the first post, then upgrade the ram to 32gb. the listed price also includes a $150 case budget, so with ur quoted $90 montech case it can be even lower and definitely lower than aftershock with better parts here and there. again, u get distro warranty instead of the 3y aftershock warranty. imo, the fun in building and choice in selecting makes it worth doing over buying prebuilt.
CM ML 240L Core ARGB Black $75
dont need aio for r5 5600, cheap air cooler for half the price will do. even a $50 ps120se would probably match this ml240 without the reliability concerns of aios.
ASROCK B550M ITX/AC ITX + Ryzen 5600 $ 384
not sure why u would pick an itx mobo? usually theyre more expensive and offer less expansion.
PowerColor Amd Radeon Fighter RX 7600 8GB GDDR6 $409
4060 is only $1 more and u get dlss; 7600 not very worth these days, needs to be around $350 then can consider.

What upgrades (by the builder) should I go for with this system, please?

https://www.invaderpc.com/product/specm03
at least the psu should be upgraded, and some may argue a cpu cooler upgrade is also in order. options available for either are decent, so to not decimate the performance per dollar while still getting a reasonable upgrade u can just opt for the cheapest options (silverstone et750-g and cm hyper 212 spectrum v3/thermalright assassin x 120 se).

Thank you! After the additions, would cost about ⅓ of the initial planned buy.

You are paying for the activation
You can dont pay for it because windows10/11 is free to use, just that you cannot customise the desktop theme and also got watermark

If not, can try searching in shopee/laz for cheap keys, usually around 10+
