The merc sped up to prevent the saab from overtaking. look at the white lines on the road suddenly become faster when the black saab came side by side.

Extremely obvious from the video. Merc driver is no angel here .

If ppl don’t let u pass, what should u do? Speed up even faster and squeeze in? Or just slow down and let it go?

I personally see no speeding up from the Mercedes from the videos in the comments. Front cam and rear cam, the speed of the Mercedes were constant.

Mercedes did speed up, it was moving moving at normal speed, 3 seconds at start of first video between lamp post.. Then in second video 1+ second and a lot faster just before he got side swept. But still cannot blame the merc because although speed up but not breakneck kind of speed which it is capable of.. at most, block the saab a bit..

IMO.. The Saab got consumed by his ego when his "Hand Gun" driving side swept the merc then floor the accelerator without considering he's already approaching a junction.. Some people can lost control of themselves and go on a meltdown when their ego got hit.

But.. He could also start to narrate his story by saying something flew into his eye, or if he already got some underlying medical condition claim he have blacked out momentarily. But whatever the case.. The one causing the accident can sleep well

Yes. Merc did speed up, One other method is to time merc travel between lamp post. the merc speed up considerably more just before it got side swept.

I had something like this before. I was in primary school and we went on a family holiday to malacca. This was late 1980s so there was no NSHW just the old road.

My dad went to the lane divider to overtake a slow moving lorry in front. Opposite us was a long line of car heading in the opposite direction. The. From the opposite direction a tour bus came out to the middle lane to overtake the cars. Now my dad’s car and the tour bus were head to head.

My dad tried to slow down fall back behind the lorry but now there was a long line of cars behind. So my dad sped up to overtake the lorry and suddenly the lorry picked up speed like crazy to stop my dad from coming in.

My dad later told me it was like a life and death race (it was all manual car then) so he did what he did and revved like crazy and the lorry revved like crazy. He swerved in front of the lorry just in time. His swerving woke me up (I was in the back seat sleeping) and I saw the bus zoom past with passengers looking at us and I remember shouting “do it again do it again) cos it was so exciting.

Only later did i know the story and that we nearly died. And it always stuck in my head that there are siao langs on the road.

This was very common in the 80s...msia long roads uphill and downhill....a lot of those old merz lorries hauling heavy stuff. Cat & mouse game in and out of lane to overtake. Drivers last time definitely more skilled with manual gear operation.
