Planning to replace my ageing (22 Years) Sharp Sys 3 Aircon with ME MXY-4H33VG Sys 4 (9x2 + 12 + 18) and was offered by GC @ $4942.00 including standard installation. With using climate voucher, it will be $4642.00. Plus additional 1320 eCashback which can be used for future purchases $20 for every $100.

Same system was offered @ $4196 (using Climate voucher) at HN. Is this good price to consider HN over GC.
Anything to take care in terms of installation as HN likely to use 3rd pary installer.

GC got eCashback so much?

Post update from GC installation (2022)

As what most of the old timers wrote here, experience with GC is a hit and miss. You will only be able to tell workmanship after a year.

Aircon finally had issues after 1 year, now around 2 year mark. Luckily I bought in on the extended warranty otherwise I need to pay money for the inspection and repair.

GC sent down a team to check on trunking dripping water, particularly at a Z shape turn area. Two blokes came in, open up the trunking, wah water flow straight away on the floor like nobody business. The bloke started swearing in hokkien and started speaking in his mother tongue. Straightaway knew the initial workmanship caused it. Chap was nice and shared with me the issue and cause.

During installation, hard to be overseeing the entire installation without affecting the installer like micro managing, end up they deliver sht work when nobody observe them. The bloke shared the insulation foam used was poorly taped up when at connecting sections plus (bend areas), gaps from one room to another was not covered up with silicone which is a basic, thus leading to condensation causing trunking to drip water. Would have continued to go unknown but thank goodness the silicone wearing off so water could come through, else drip water you also can't see from inside the trunk.

Will choose south asian team going forward, over the neighbours from up north (first installers) in future. They know how to fix the problems and didn't smoke me.

This nice service team also shared based on their experiences, these are the current 4 good brands to go with (less faults), Mitsubishi Starmex, Daikin, Toshiba and Panasonic.

They shared all the other brand like LG, Midea haha 🤣 good luck if you choose to be cheap on the initial costs. They also said not just here, back home those 4 brands are also more used frequently.

That’s why there is a need to have someone knowledgeable on aircon be there to inspect and QC the technicians during installation.

You get what you pay for..
Don't save the pennies and spend pounds to fix..
Site it right, use the right amount of power instead of convincing others and yourself that scrimping is enough
Use for years in peace.. amen

Please advise.
Edit: Audio House NOT GC. Apologies.

HN depending on which outlet uses different contractors.

Audio House also uses contractors.

GainCity uses in house and contractors for installation.

Courts uses contractor.

i know AH, HN, Courts has a common contractor.

I think the avg folks know it's a big ticket item and not to scrimp here. However, the mass retailer model of using contractors is the headache part, you don't know who is coming till the day of appointment, it's like a lucky draw, otherwise you need go to all these boutique contractors and there is still the same risk of a botched job that will only be discovered over time. A poor workmanship job won't showcase instantly, it's over time.

Unless you remove the current limit the 4H33 will perform like the 3H28 if you use only 3 blowers. Meaning no diff.
Ask your Aircon man about removing the current limiter for starmex multi split and most will give you the blank look! 🤣
I turn off my ME 4A38VA current limit too. it cool the room very fast, damn happy how smart i am initially.
6 yr later, i see the monthly PUB bill i also scare, sometimes can go up to $200 for 1 people living in 4rm HDB.
I think the compressor fan coil got dirt, then it needs to rotate extra hard. so, without current limit, the electrical bill shoot up.

any expert know is DAIKIN also come with current limit function?

I am now considering between Daikin MKM85VVMG or ME MXY-4H33VG.

Any expert knows which system more reliable?
Scare of problem like leaking, overheating, not cold, etc.......

These issues are totally not related to the choice of brands.
How to make sure you get these issue?
Pay your vendor less and ensure poor workmanship
Squeeze him for time
Use a underpowered compressor
Emphasise aesthetics over practical placement and piping

Gain City now provide very good installation services and material leh.
Their standard material now is copper Pipe SWG 21, insulator is 1/2 inch armaflex and CX shield.
Some more come with 3 yr installation warranty.
Anyone can confirm this is true?
But they never talk to me about e-cashback.
Why har? is it their offer is random depend on individual who walk in?
But i have yet to sign any deal with them, i dont know is it just their sale gimmick.

Anyone who done with GC, can confirm all their above promise?

I am installing in late May and mid June for 2 trips.

everything is true. CX shield only for outdoor section not full installation. Cashback only 1% was never mentioned

price is standard for online and physical store.

can also reprice when you get a better deal for those waiting for BTO and before installation.

I am trying to reprice mine to enjoy the Panasonic $300 vouchers.

Take note for Single Split, the piping length is 30feet instead of 50 feet for multi split. Topup is additional fee.

Hopefully they dont pass your case to their sub-contractors. BTW, why need 2 days? You got many aircon to set up?
