I carried my D90 in a small camera bag which also doubled up as my bag and I wore it cross-bodied. Had been safe in Paris, London and Italy. But it grew too old and had to retire.

I used to carry my FULL gear for my camera. All the lens and equipments. End up, i don't enjoy my travel at all.

Of coz, i m not a professional photographer, just an amateur hobby user. So, now wise up that just carrying a small compact camera will do and use a good iphone for all the pic.

Most important is enjoying the trips. The less you carry, the more mobility you enjoy. So far has been enjoy and safe throughout the whole EU.

Then all the camera and gear are in dry box for many yrs....sighsss

If travelling with family with kids... just get a compact with a good zoom... anything bigger is a hassle liao... nowadays compact are quite sufficient for taking decent photos liao...

And... Its not the camera... its the user...

I have seen user just using small compact cameras still able to snatch beautiful shots/pic!

is all about skills, angle of shooting, light exposure and modes of use....

I have also seen 'idiots' using expensive high end camera and can't snatch a normal decent pic....

Also, one thing i HATE is when you go thru security screen at some of the airport, the staffs throw the bag on the X ray, even they know is a camera bag.....So you think you feel 'good" and worry your lens got cracks or not...really knn...

Usually I only brought a zoom lens and my 35mm prime lens. Now looking for a lighter option. I find hp pics look flat and no depth. It’s different from the images DSLR can give. And hp uglifies people.
IMHO.
My current setup, Nikon D7100 and 16-85mm. Make do with the optics using DxO.
I need battery grip to take better photos.
Also, for indoor, used to be Canon S90. Now replaced by mobile. Small sensor good for no DOF.

P.S. Need to have interesting trip to use kind of setup. I go nearby to relax, no point.

For travelling the best setup right now is Sony A7CII and 20-70mm F4, then maybe 1 fast prime for night time/portrait/food shots

Brought a high end full frame + wide angle primes for travel.
Ended up my Huawei flagship took better photos
Unless if I want to shoot specific eg Geishas, long exposures, night citiscapes, etc, would stick to phones.

It’s a full frame. In Mainland Chinese’s words: 我不配. I am not familiar with Sony interface. I am not sure if it’s a good time to change to a different brand now. I was thinking of getting something cheaper, lighter, smaller and easier to use.

Anybody has used Nikon mirrorless? Can I mount my DX lens on them? Is a mirrorless better than a DSLR? Never tried one before. What’s the big deal about being mirrorless besides the smaller size?

i came to this enlightenment as well. And nowadays the weather is just too humid in SG. If i take out my equipment from dry cabinet, it will be shortening their lifespan

I had thought of all these before the trips so I would not carry the full gear. Had brought a tripod to Mount Fuji once and decided it’s not practical after that. But the price is not having myself in most of the pictures.

I usually carry just my camera with a zoom lens and a prime lens so it’s not that bad.

It feels good to see those images captured by a DSLR even after many years. DSLR pics have this quality of durability compared to hp images. The colours, sharpness, focus and depth of field cannot be compared by hp pics. Even when I show the pics to friends with untrained eyes, they are able to tell that the pics are taken with a good camera.
