This case really is sad lah. Post natal depression really need family support one. Don’t say post natal. Even typical depression also need a lot of loved ones to help pull you through. If your closest people disregard you or don’t bother, it’s hard to walk out of the darkness on your own

Even new fathers can suffer from depression too.. i see a few cases where the new mother(wife) constantly berates the husband over everything and the husband has to just tahan and keep it to himself because he needs to be a supportive husband and father, and he has to understand that his wife is going through post natal depression, and of course no one cares about the father's depressive state. I hear that some after work even have to take a breather somewhere to mentally prepare themselves before they head home to get abused by their wives lol

The wife only takes it out on him and no one else, she can treat her friends and family very nicely but treat the husband with loads of verbal abuse and condescension and the husband has to "take it" because he has to be supportive. End of the day, nobody gives a sh1t about the husband/father. Worst case is if the husband 1 day can't take it and raises his voice at the wife 1 time, and then he gets villainised forever.

According to the Singapore Department of Statistics, in 2020:

- Males accounted for 66.7% of suicides (444 out of 666 cases)
- Females accounted for 33.3% of suicides (222 out of 666 cases)

This trend is consistent with previous years, where males have generally accounted for a higher proportion of suicides in Singapore.

It's important to note that suicide can affect anyone regardless of gender, age, or background. If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, please reach out to:

- Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) hotline: 1800-221-4444
- Singapore Association for Mental Health (SAMH) hotline: 1800-283-7019

Remember, help is available, and there is support for those in need.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), globally:

- Males account for approximately 75% of all suicides (2019 data)
- Females account for approximately 25% of all suicides (2019 data)

This trend is consistent across most countries and regions, where males have a higher suicide rate compared to females.

However, it's important to note that:

- Female suicide rates are increasing in some countries
- Young females (15-19 years old) have a higher suicide rate compared to young males in some countries
- Middle-aged and older males have the highest suicide rates globally

WHO emphasizes that suicide is a complex issue, and gender is just one factor. Other factors like mental health, social support, economic conditions, and cultural norms also play a significant role.

If you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, please reach out to local helplines or support services.

Admit, agree, we are no longer the elite calvary horseback archer defending the edge borders or seafaring sailor far from home, nor illiterate migrant coolie working anymore
