Oh no.i have no other choice to use traditional tv box now :(

Indeed, but probably only for new sign-up. Existing users can still use the old basic Singtel TV box. The good thing is that you can use Singtel CAST app on your mobile device or TV box to watch now (one instance only).

However, I think those pay for the DVR box will still get the traditional DVR box.

I regret not signing up early .now I am stuck with starhub.they told me I can hold to the fibre tv box for as long as I can but if the tv box break down , they will not have replacement box for me as they don't support anymore.
Planning to switch to singtel tv but they also change to Android box now so no point switching now.think all these telcos wanna save cost by forcing consumers to use Android box instead of traditional tv boxes ..

Android box interface very hard for my old parents to navigate and is laggy compared to traditional set top box
活到老学到老 not necessary so as practice make prefer. Why android? 1. cheaper 2. more flexible to change TV contents 3. Support 4K UHD with HDR. Some even got digital surround sound. Basic 4k UHD TV is good to use. If got money buy 65" OLED TV.

Not force because it is a better option.

One day sure do away.

Probably true.

The new Singtel Android TV supports Cloud based DVR functtion but that is extra cost. Anyway the old Singtel TV DVR box also has higher monthly rental compared to the standard Singtel TV box.

Singtel FAQ:
https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/singtel-tv/android-tv-box

1) https://www.singtel.com/personal/support/singtel-tv/android-tv-box/record-shows-on-set-top-box
If you're on the new Singtel TV box, you'll need a Cloud DVR subscription to record your shows. Available in 300 ($10.98 per month) or 600 hour ($12.98 per month) options.

You'll be able to record up to 3 shows simultaneously.

2) How long will I be able to store my recorded shows in the cloud and what happens when I exceed my cloud storage?
For management of cloud storage, recordings will be stored in the cloud for 6 months before they are deleted.

If you have exceeded your subscribed recording limit, you can use the keep until options to choose what content you like to keep, and what content you would like replaced.

Very expensive for second TV box.

You mean the following:
Get the new Singtel TV box: $6.02/mth for 1st box, $15.17/mth for 2nd box.
Record your shows in cloud: 300 hours for $10.98/mth, 600 hours for $12.98/mth.

Usually Singtel has high listed price but then you can often get promotion like 50% OFF and free basic box rental. Let's see how it goes with the new packs.

And you may not need the second TV box, Singtel CAST App can be installed on Andriod TV OS, like Sony Smart TV and Xiaomi Mi Box S Gen 2.

Can Singtel TV android box install third-party app?

This thingy is new so we may need to wait a while for more info. However, I tend to believe it will be the same that you cannot install 3rd party apps, just like Starhub TV+ box.

Anyway, the solution is easy -- just get another Android TV box like Mi Box S Gen 2 (less than S$70 from official Xiaomi store).

They stated clearly that Netflix not supported.

Which means that the box lacks the Netflix certification, even though it is Google Certified.

Should not be a real issue though, as usually your smart TV will support Netflix. If you are using an old TV, then just get a Mi Box S Gen 2.
