Actually what I heard before is that it really depends on the income of the husband BUT regardless of husband’s employment status, always ask for alimony of $1 if he is really poor.

This is so that in event years later he gets another job and earns money you can file a claim to increase alimony. But if you had asked for $0, the opportunity is gone forever
