The students now are more vocal.
They will demand change if they are not happy.
You forgot that they are all from GOOD families.
Their voices will be HEARD for sure.

Perhaps the most controversial rumour is the potential removal of air-conditioning from certain school areas, a move that has sparked widespread concern about student comfort and learning effectiveness in Singapore's heat.

"I don't understand the air-con removal. It's true that students from most schools don't have it, but do you think they don't complain about the heat?" read one comment on Reddit.

"I think most will agree it's more conducive to study in a comfortable environment where you're not sweating.

"RI students are very lucky to have air-con. So why the need to remove it? Does it promote national unity for all students to suffer in the heat together?"

Other reported changes, including a restructuring of the Gap Semester Programme, a shift to the SLS learning platform and unconfirmed reports of teacher resignations, have further ruffled student feathers.

The monitor will not get involved.
The principal have to resolve the issues that he initiated.
Or else some one will replace him to do the job.
Dun think they will sit on this noise.

funny how people focus on aircon.
I'll be more concerned about "curriculum cuts, including Philosophy, Research Education (RE), and Raffles Academy,".
Philosophy will be an interesting subject to broaden mind and develop different perspectives, just like IB students taking "Theory of Knowledge".
RE and RA to my knowledge are catered for students who have a strong interest in certain subjects and want to go deep into it (it goes as far as uni level). Think of it like a course for the "gifted", except that all students can opt for it as long as they have a strong interest and prove they can handle the rigor.

Think if you are smart enough to go RI, would be on scholarship, and don't need to pay school fees

only the 4-pointers are on academic-based scholarship i think. At most 5-pointers.
there are still many 6 pointers there.

which area got mentioned? news article didn't state. Everyone here assumed it was the classroom. What if it was the toilet/canteen/science labs/sports hall? removing aircon there no issue right?

“The role of a principal is crucial in determining the academic and emotional success of the students. RI deserves a principal who will listen to us, work for us, and prioritise our needs; a principal who understands the pressures we face and helps us navigate them,” wrote the petition author.
The self entitlement is strong. School staff don't work for students. They work for the common interest of MOE and/or govt, to cultivate talents for Singapore.

Its not the point of being self entitled la.

If you are already enjoying the privilege, sure will kpkb if taken away for stupid reason.

Elite sch got a lot more funds than normal gov sch, they can afford to spend on facilities like air con for students. I rather they do it than spending on useless stuffs that doesn't benefits your kids.

Becoz aircon is the basic for learning environment.

Look at the tertiary-level academies, aircon is everywhere which is quite basic IMO.
