Asus China version vs Local version
They are basically the same HW and same FW, just different country code. The country code can not be changed as it is outside of the FW area. The country code will decide the minor differences in the behaviours.

Major differene:
Local version has three years HW warranty. China version will have no local warranty.

Minor differences in terms of FW behaviours:
1) China version has Chinese/English Web UI
2) China version may have specific game accelerator (网易 UU 加速器), just ignore it.
3) China version may ping Baidu for web monitoring but you can change the behavior.
4) Some China version routers may have special Web UI skins like Asus TX-AX6000, which is a bit different from local version TUF-AX6000.
5) China version has wireless region defaul to China, but you can change to Asia region to be compliant to local regulation.
6) Some reports say that Asus Instant Guard VPN may not work with Asus China routers.

I find Instant Guard no long works with my Asus RT-AX86U China version. It used to work. Very strange. I am using Merlin FW but I think Merlin FW does not change Asus Instant Guard VPN function.

TUF-BE6500 China version also does not seem to support Asus Instant Guard function.

Hopefully other users can chime in to confirm. Need to check if Asus RT-BE88U or RT-BE86U supports Asus Instant Guard VPN server or not.

Not a problem for me though --> as I can still use Wiregurard VPN server for remote access to the Asus RT-AX86U router (I belive it is more secure than Asus Instant Guard).

I use my TUF-BE6500 behind my main OpenWRT router (Double NAT) so I do not really want to use Asus Instant Guard or Wireguard VPN on the TUF-BE6500. Rather I have Tailscale client behind the TUF-BE6500. I have also Wireguard VPN server running on the main OpenWRT router.

I own China version BE88u - i only used OpenVPN on the router and I have PiVPN - WG server running on my Pi. No issues using them over public WiFi or mobile connection to reach my devices back home.

one important use-case for me is to access Singapore pools using my VQ connection remotely to buy Toto (those big draws) as I travel for biz quite frequently.

Tried paid VPN like Nord, Singapore Pools seems to be able to detect I am outside of SG even thou on connected to SG servers.

How you solve the occasional OTP verification sms by sgpools? I tried NORD when I was at Korea, can login to sgpools but I can’t bypass the OTP cause sent to my sg SIM card.

Ahhh. I don't play around with them much, just made an educated purchase at the time. Your 2 pack pricing is solid!! I bought my BQ16 for $738 which i thought was a good deal for it, plus preferred an asus router for merlin support.
I bought my BQ16 2-pack for $1400 at the last Suntec IT show from Challenger. After factoring credit card rebates and selling off the Asus wired keyboard which I got for the instant lucky draw, my nett price was $1285.

I checked the other sellers, they allow shipping to SG.
Maybe I get from them. Total price around S$150+
This free shipping, I find it is cheaper to buy from taobao than getting used unit from carousel

Just to addon. Can get power supply from
https://s.shopee.sg/1LOSntyNsg also. Comes with safety mark

I will prefer Asus original 2-pin power supply plus a 3-pin adapter myself.

I prefer to use multiway version of the 3-pin adapters for better support, like the following 5-way adapter from SoundTech at about S$5.50. It is sold at NTUC as well. I use it with one or two 2-pin power adapters of China routers and switches .
https://www.gaincity.com/sound-teoh-multiway-adaptor-pp-25-5way-2-pin-t0131618

But it is okay to go with your option as well if you prefer to use 3rd party power supply.

I understand. Reason being is the safety mark certification. Especially with fire insurance.
Best solution is get an official 12v, 2.5a from Asus sg, but I doubt they sell. 3rd party adapters eg from Huawei will be the alternative solution

I tried to use my old ac68u adaptor apparently the inlet is different hence I’m not able to use and have to use the two pin with 3 pin adaptor.
