That sounds fine if your hotel is in either area, though by the time you set off, it may be 10am. You can have a brunch in the Qianmen area. You can also visit a museum around Tiananmen before a late lunch and check-in.

Take note that some places, e.g. museums, 故居, etc. may be closed on Mondays.

SQ 800 ya?

There was quite a crowd this morning from another flight at immigration.

This morning's flight touched down at 7.20am. I was out of the airport by 8am.

I don't have to do my fingerprints thingy, and bought something at dutyfree. I was the first from my flight to queue at immigration.

If you have to do your fingerprints thingy, and there's a queue at immigration, you'll probably leave the airport at around 1.5 hours after touch down.

China hotels usually allow you to do an early check-in. So you might want to check in first.

You can walk from Wangfujing to Qianmen v.v. There's a stretch of colonial buildings. Evening can go to Houhai.

Also depending on season when you are coming to Beijing. It can be too cold for certain activities. It's 6°C when I touched down this morning.

NAVIGATING Beijing’s sprawling subway network has just become easier for foreign tourists with the introduction of credit-card enabled “tap-and-go” enabled turnstiles.
From last Friday (Sep 13), overseas issued credit cards such as MasterCard and Visa can be used to pay for subway trips in the capital, marking an increase in convenience for international visitors who previously had to grapple with vending machines to purchase tickets.
With this, Beijing becomes the first city in mainland China to allow credit cards.......
I going to Shanghai first then Suzhou hangzhou Beijing. Like this, is there a EZ-Link card equivalent that tourist can buy and use for all?

each city or town has their own metro card, not worth to buy 1 card or each city. short visit just buy single trip ticket or Alipay app

join local tour there, quite safe., but some slight inconveniences (some hotels only allow PRC ID to register, the tour guide may add you into their wechat, may get scammed in shopping stops, may stay in lousy hotel/ food, may ask u top up $$ to use toll ways, may exlcude some stuff etc), just to appear cheap and attract you to buy their tour

SG tour groups at least you can close two eyes and still travel safe and well

I will be flying into Beijing Daxing arriving 6.35am and planning on catching a domestic flight to Xi'An.

How much is required to clear immigration in Beijing and check-in again for my domestic flight in the same airport? Say if my next flight to Xi'an is at 9am, can I make it?

You should be able to make it unless your flight is late by an hour. Daxing has only 1 terminal and it is star-shaped.

the coupon on meituan is like groupon

If the shop participates, you can buy the coupon on the spot, and they will scan it at the stop.
They have set meal coupon - ( at a Peking duck place, we 4 pax bought the coupon for 2 pax set meal for sgd 65 - include 1 duck, 2 meat dish, 2 vege dish, very worth it considering 1 duck is about 200 rmb)
They also have voucher, like favepay, (pay 80 rmb for 100 rmb voucher that can use immediately)

If u dunno how to use u can ask them how to use meituan/dianping 套餐

still worth it to use even if the sign up voucher is expire

It is all the rage now. Use the app to get incredible discounts at restaurants on the mainland. Many establishments are on their last legs while some just sprang up trying to corner market share.

Hi All,

Planning a first time trip to Beijing in April and bringing my 14 month toddler as well.

Wanted to tap on the experience of the group here. I realised that there are 2 airports in Beijing and both have like express trains to the city area for connection to metro. So I was wondering if there is any difference in which airport I choose to land at? Or are both equally convienent? Is taking Didi to the city better a better option?

I read that most Didi or taxi don't have child seat. Is it okay if I just carry my kid on the lap for the journey?

Also if anyone has any recommendations on family friendly hotels to stay at it would be great. Especially if the hotels provide a baby crib. Is Wangfujing and Qianmen a good area to stay at that is easily accessible to the main attractions?

For travelling to the main attractions, is it easier to take the metro or just use Didi?

Thanks all in advance for your help.

You have to look at the flight timings for Daxing. At the moment, there's only SQ flying direct between Singapore and Daxing. Daxing to Singapore is at 9.20am. Which means you'll need to wake up damn early to get to the airport at 7.20am.

SQ Singapore to Daxing is a new flight and may be cheaper than to PEK. I have seen SQ flights to PEK at around $440. It's a pretty good price. There are 2 flights a day between Singapore and PEK.

PEK to the city, traffic is always bad.

Beijing is huge. As long as you are near the metro, you'll be ok. Note that a lot of metros do not have escalators (everywhere in the station) and no lift as well.

We don't like to drive in Beijing as traffic is bad. We usually take the metro.

We only drive in our neighborhood.

It's your choice of airline that determines your airport. Departing directly from Singapore, Air China and SIA use PEK. SIA is supposed to switch to PKX. China Eastern uses PKX. The taxis don't require child seats so you can have your kid in your lap. You will have to check if you can install Didi. I have better access to street-hail taxis than I do here in Singapore. Both Wangfujing and Qianmen are great for the attractions in the palace area.
