Any Cashback from $501 to $999 spending? Cos the cashback only give if you hit $500/$1,000/$2,000.

what is your strategy if every month you spend about $900?
splurge on yourself or loved ones for another $100.

what's $100 when you've already spent $900?

What if hit 1000 in one month, and next 2 months only hit 500, would still enjoy the 500 cashback tier for the quarter?
yes... you brought up a valid point. once hit $1000, should aim for $1000 the whole quarter.

to play their 'game' need to strategize...

The purpose of this card is more for the UOB One bank account interest. $50 per quarter is low. There are better cards out there.
Once hit $500 I stop.

And really dislike quarterly rebate. If it had been monthly rebate, could have spend $500 in certain months and $1000 in certain months. But quarterly rebate stop me from spending on the card beyond $500 as can't spend $1000 for all 3 mths. Most of the time in the first month of the quarter cannot predict that need to spend more for the subsequent 2 mths.

And UOB is very sneaky. The quarterly rebate and bonus rebate don't get credited to the card account. If you stop spending, it does not show credit balance like other bank's credit card. The rebate is only credited if you continue spending.

admittedly... if one spends just $500 per month with this card, the $50 every quarter (3.33%) may seem low, but justifiable for low maintenance folks.

(some months I have trouble even trying to clock the $500)

but if one spends the card with the partners like McD, SimplyGo, Dairy Farm companies (e.g. Cold Storage), Shopee, or Grab, you get another 5% which potentially gives an extra $75 on top of the $50 per quarter, or roughly $42 per mth, which isn't too shabby for spending $500 a month.

Hi vsvu24, what do you mean by your first statement "The purpose of this card is more for the UOB One bank account interest. $50 per quarter is low."? Thanks!

Meet 500 min spend in the month to enjoy high interest for the UOB One savings account. The 50 per quarter refers to the UOB One credit card.

if no uob one saving account, worth to get the UOB 1 card? My goal is to use one stop service card for all expenses from SP bill, Eight Mobile, retail, dining, travel, donation, etc.

Yes it still works if you prefer cashback, the card is more versatile than similar cards offer by other banks more so if you spend at their preferred merchants (Shopee, Cold Storage, Giant, McDonalds, SP)

if not using preferred/partner merchants and no One account, I think there are some better cards out there... like HSBC Live+ (min. $600 for 3 consecutive months, 5% for some categories like dining, entertainment and shopping) or Maybank F&F (min. $800 spend, 8% capped at $25 per category up to 5 categories)

I feel UOB One at 3.33% for min. $500 for 3 consecutive months is the most 'fuss-free' I can find...

No incentive if your spending is between $501 to $999 .....

If you can comfortably hit $500+ every month for UOB one, I suggest you spend the remaining $400+ using another card ..... it may be too stressful to hit the remaining $499++ ....

there hasn't been any merchant I know in recent times that will post on the same day as transacted for UOB cards.. some used to - like Diary Farm companies, but now takes at least a day.

maybe some others might be able to share any if they know of.

I’m thinking it’s actually the issue with UOB. I switched to DCS Flex card and I get some transactions posting on the same day (like Vivifi and PayPal) and also on Sundays and public holidays

They should follow dbs live fresh to use transaction dates rather than posting dates
